Its Lottery Eve
Will Cool bestow us with another number 1 pick? Has KAT broken the Wolves curse and will we finally get a pick better than our finish?

I'm not insuring a #1 this year, but I have us landing in the top 3. Let's keep the good momentum rolling.

Re: Its Lottery Eve
One of my favorite holidays. I have my lottery stocking hanging over the fireplace.
Cool (AKA the Jeanne Dixon of the lottery) hasn't guaranteed a #1 this year, but I do believe he has guaranteed a top three pick. This would be a coup for the Wolves, because they have only a 29% chance of moving into the top 3. And of course, they have never moved up in the lottery. I'm not sure why Glen decided to send KAT to represent the team after overseeing getting the #1 pick last year...why mess with success?
Here are the odds for the Wolves:
#1: 8.8%
#2: 9.7
#3 10.7
#5: 26.1
#6: 36
#7: 8.4
#8 .4
So, getting the 6th pick is the most likely result, and there is a 62% chance of drafting either 6th or 7th.
Here's the optimistic spin on Cool's guarantee. When he guaranteed #1 last year, there was only a 25% chance of that happening. There is a better chance of moving up into the top 3 this year (29.2%) than there was of getting the first pick last year. Can the Oracle of Portland come through for us again?

Cool is picking better odds this year. That's smart. Lol I do feel some good vibes about moving up to top 3. Not expecting it maybe not even hoping for it but I won't be completely shocked like last year when we ended up #2.
Jeff Munneke the Wolves "VP of fun" as Souhan called him when he was on his podcast a couple weeks ago. Munneke said winning the #1 and getting Towns lifted the curse of Joey two step. Below is a pretty entertaining article Souhan did last year where Munneke outlines how the curse came about and a bunch of other pretty fun stories and is absolutely a must read.

Also I remember Glen wasn't even supposed to go to the lottery but basically ended up being the only option or something I think his wife was supposed to originally go. Sending Towns makes plenty of sense to me. He is already probably one of the most engaging guys in the entire franchise and represents possibly the best luck ever in the franchise. :)

Thibs said it best. "I told [Karl-Anthony] top-two and we're good!"

Have to ask...how do you see Buddy impacting the Wolves if drafted? Or his ceiling as a NBA player? I don't see him starting so it's hard for me to see us draft for bench at this point. Like to get some insight from everyone.

Slim, I know most teams would expect a top 5 pick to start, but I like our starting 5, I think Buddy could be a great bench player. And you know someone will get hurt next year, I've seek enough of him to know he's not just a shooter.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Minnesota Timberwolves will send Karl-Anthony Towns as their representative to the NBA draft lottery, hoping for the same fortune that brought them the NBA Rookie of the Year.
The Wolves took Towns with the first pick in 2015 after winning the lottery last spring. This time, they'll have 88 pingpong balls in the hopper out of 1,000 for an 8.8 percent chance of landing the top spot again. The draw will take place Tuesday night in New York.
Towns will wear one of the late Flip Saunders' wedding rings around his neck as a good-luck charm at the suggestion of Saunders' son, Ryan, who wears it around his neck each day. Saunders, the former coach and executive of the Wolves, died last October after a battle with Hodgkin's lymphoma.
