When everyone couldn't stand me for my " obsession" with Rubio? Those were the days.
Nowadays half the board has the same obsession with DLO, the other half is increasingly mean to each other and Ricky is still the same player he was as a rookie!
Times were simpler then.

Love it. You were right Pork. Go Wolves.

Ricky was a much better player as a rookie. He's still a poor shooter, but he's now a step slower, more mistake prone and oddly less adept handling the ball. Beyond those clarifying points, I commend you for all your obsessions. :)

Re: Remember
To be fair... I remember getting people upset when I questioned why most of the board was blaming Kevin Love for a loss after a 34 point, 14 rebound game... when Rubio had a 6 point, 5 assist game.
That being said... I do dig Rubio despite his obvious flaws. This is sorta sad to watch.

Ricky was a much better player just 9 months ago than he was as a rookie or this season. Clearly he's off his game, but it's not like he's been in a long descent as a player. He literally just came off one of the best seasons of his career.

Adjusting to a bench role? Thats what I'm hoping it is. I also think he needs to look for his offense a bit more. Last year he looked to score quite a bit. It seems like he is trying to get anyone and everyone a shot at the expense of good shots for himself. He has no feel for shooting atm.

Don't know what it is. I agree with others that he just looks off, so I don't know if this is just a role issue. I think it was Jon K that said Rubio had the virus during the offseason (?). That thing can do lasting damage that can range from the severe to the subtle. A guy that plays at the highest levels of professional sports is going to be compromised if there is even just a subtle impact from being a covid long-hauler, even if he feels fine otherwise.

Re: Remember
Britt Robson recently discussed Rubio/Russell in depth over at The Athletic for those with a subscription. For everybody else... some nuggets:
- From mid-January 2013 to the day he was traded back to Minnesota, Rubio suited up for 523 NBA regular season and playoff games and started in all but one of them -- he came off the bench on Jan. 21, 2019, after missing six games with a hamstring injury. By contrast, he has started just three of the Wolves' first 10 games.
- There is a crucial difference between DLo and the two stars Rubio was previously enabling. According to the "Play-by-Play" index at Basketball-Reference.com, Mitchell and Booker have both logged the majority of their minutes on the court as shooting guards... On the other hand, prior to this season, DLo's first five NBA seasons saw him designated as his team's point guard in a range between 86 and 99 percent when he was on the court.
- "I just adapt to what's given me, but of course not being in my comfort zone, it doesn't help to my game. But at the end of the day, I am really here to help the team win and right now it is not happening." - Rubio
