7 Stages of Grief - Wolves Board Wiggins Version
1) Shock & Denial - Our #1 pick from Cleveland is a volume scorer that can't do anything else. But he's just a rookie, wait until next year.
2) Pain & Guilt - It's year 2 and we've only seen marginal improvement. Maybe we expected too much too soon?
3) Anger and Bargaining - He just sucks, he's the reason why this franchise can't ever get anything right. When we win, it's in spite of him, when we lose he's to blame.
4) Depression - He's so bad that we should trade him, even if it means we need to pay someone handsomely to take him off our hands.
5) The Upward Turn - He looks to have made some improvement. We aren't as angry but he is what he is and we can deal with that. We can deal with his bad shooting games, but if he would just do some other things he would be an asset.
6) Reconstruction - Let's just hope this improvement is sustainable. If it is we might actually have something worthwhile. but it probably isn't and he will regress to his old self soon. Still, we can handle it better now.
7) Hope - Now apparently when he doesn't play well (shoot well AND do all the little things) we have no chance to win. All of a sudden he's essential to our +.500 record.
I bring this up because 90% of you were on #'s 3,4 and 5 just last year. He sucks and get rid of him as soon as possible. Now, 90% of you are on #7. I gleaned that from reading the game thread and game reports from the Memphis game. Kind of fickle, don't you think?

Wiggins just had a bad game against Memphis but still filled up the stat sheet...wait what?!?! Yes I'm starting to believe this thing is real. Star? No but even if Wiggins is a 20 million dollar a year player it would be HUGE for this franchise.
Do Melo next he just won player of the week and helped Portland win 3 in a row...2 wins were against Chicago but... :)

How can anyone take these awards seriously when you see something like this. I'd bet Lebron, Doncic, or Harden dwarfed his stats and likely against tougher competition. Wiggins should be getting the award soon as well, I guess.

I'd guess people voted for Melo because it was a nice story. I think it's worth enjoying. It's a pretty meaningless award.

I got a kick out of seeing some ESPN graphic once where they compared LeBron James' number of Player of the Week awards with Jordan and a couple of other all-time greats.
;)
They only started giving out two each week (East/West) in 2001.

And I'd like to nominate Keita Bates-Diop for this distinguished award along with a printed certificate that he can hang on his cubicle wall.

As fans of a team with a miserable history I don't think it's odd for us to vacillate between the extremes. As for Wiggins, he's given is every reason to doubt him, even now. As a fan I always hoped he'd get it together and help make this team a contender, but even now I'm not about to hold my breath
Wiggins deserves credit for raising his game as do the coaches for playing to his strengths, but given we're in year six it's going to take more than a good quarter of a season to even begin to talk about turning corners and such.

I agree that people should be ripped for voicing their opinion or using stats to indicate that Andrew Wiggins was a mediocre/average/slightly below or slightly above average NBA player who probably didn't deserve a max contract for a few hundred games. How dare they.
I hope they're eating crow now.
We don't need those kinds of takes on a sports teams message board. SHAME.
