Getting Picks and Players from Salary Cap Strapped Teams

Post by TeamRicky [enjin:6648771] »

If the Lakers want to shed more salary, I'd be happy with taking on Deng if the Lakers compensate us for doing so: 27 and 28 would work for me. Flipping 2 for 7 would work too, but unless the Lakers are ok with whatever point guard falls to 7 (e.g. DSJ), they probably wouldn't consider that.

I think the chances of us getting Millsap are essentially nil, especially after Atlanta unloaded Howard's salary. So unless we really think we could get Ibaka, I don't know if we need to spend big dollars on anyone. We might be better off using our capspace to take on a salary of a semi-useful player and gaining draft picks or improving our draft position. Along these lines, I think Harkless, Demarre Carroll or Danny Green (if SA goes after CP3 or other FA) would be other targets to take on salary for salary strapped teams.

I would still approach the Blazers and inquire about Mo Harkless and a pick. I do not want to assist the Lakers on this rebuild.

Agreed. F LA. Id refuse any trade with them unless we utterly F them in the process.

27 and 28 are not worth taking on Deng at 18 mil over the next 3 years. Not even close. Hell, they just packaged Russell (who was their 2nd best prospect and a #2 pick 2 years ago) in order to get rid of mozgov. I'd hang up on them in a second on TeamRickys proposed deal.

I get the reaction to helping LA, but I am looking at it from our perspective. Yeah, Harkless and Carroll deals are more enticing and if we could do those I'd do it first. Toronto really has a salary cap jam if they resign Lowry and attempt to resign Ibaka. Carroll and Valenciunas are the two most likely contracts they will look to unload if they seek cap relief. Carroll is almost a perfect player and I'd want a first round pick just as the Wolves gave up a pick to rid themselves of Wes Johnson just to sign an injury plagued Kirilenko.

I actually think the Dwight deal means Millsap is on the way out as they begin rebuilding. I think he is a realistic target now as I don't think anyone's gonna offer him max money anymore knowing Atlanta is not gonna really come close to that as a competing offer.

I agree that Millsap is realistic if Thibs odds willing to pay up because it sounds like Atlanta won't

The Rockets have reportedly made Ryan Anderson, Patrick Beverley and Lou Williams available via trade in order to open up some cap space for free agency this summer.

This is another trade opportunity to perhaps get picks. Ryan Anderson would address our shooting in a big way. If Houston could get us a pick too, that might be a good option for us.

I would prefer Lou Williams between his and Anderson. His 6th man ability and creative scoring is much more efficient then Anderson.
