KAT and RoCo

Post by Lipoli390 »

A friend of mine was at Red Cow last night after the game. Towns and RoCo were there having dinner. My friend boldly went up to them to say hi. He said they were both great to him. They agreed to pose with him and his girlfriend for a couple photos (which he sent me) and they took the time to talk for a while. Among other things KAT told him he just bought a new house in Medina.

The bond between RoCo and Towns is already apparent in games and on the bench. Apparently, it extends beyond the basketball court. I read that they were friends before RoCo came here.

This is the second time in recent weeks someone I know has run into KAT. And they both commented on how approachable and personable he was with them.

Not a big deal, but thought I'd share it with the group. I get more out of rooting for players I also like. I'm really liking this post-Butler team.

Same agents and they've worked out together in the off season before. Cov is a godsend for kat after the butler fiasco. And with wiggs having a kid, he probably doesn't have as much time to hang with kat either.

Kat and cov spending alot of time together is a great thing.

Geez, what a 180 this whole thing has taken in terms of team chemistry. You have to wonder if the RoCo/Saric deal would have been there during the summer, when Thibs first knew Butler's desire to get out. And if it was do-able....WTF Thibs!?! You put the organization and its fans through Dante's 9 circles of hell before finally unloading him! And surely you would have known that RoCo and KAT worked out together!

Eh, I'm just speculating, but it still pisses me off that this whole thing was allowed to fester as long as it did and Thibs didn't see the folly in trying to retain Butler.

Who knows when the RoCo/Saric deal became available...I'm going to reserve judgement because it's likely we will never know. I'm just happy we ended up in such great shape after that deal...makes Thibs look like a genius.

I'm enjoying the euphoria of the moment, and Rob and Rose have quickly become favorites of mine. One nagging concern keeps popping up in my mind though. Just one year ago, Jimmy Butler was my favorite T-Wolf :-o

Way to bring us down LST. Lol

Thanks for the info Lip. It's still early but it seems like things are really going well. Hopefully it keeps up. One thing Covington help when it comes to pecking order is while he is looking like a team leader I don't think he is gonna have any issues with Towns or if another star emerges at some point (including Rose) I think Covington knows his place and that has value.

Thibs did an interview recently, he mentioned that saric wasn't offered till the very end. So, thibs waiting got us the package he ultimately accepted.

As I said yesterday... I question any kind of PR spin on this stuff.

A deal with Philly for Covington... and no Saric... is not even plausible as a mythical trade or starting point. Maybe waiting helped the Wolves? Maybe it didn't matter? None of us know for certain. But I have to imagine the trades didn't improve significantly from the offseason/start of the season until the point of the trade. Maybe the Wolves' willingness to actually talk with more teams and consider more options seriously was the biggest change? Maybe the Wolves could have simply been more proactive and asked for Saric earlier?

Meanwhile, the organization (and its franchise player) suffered a pretty ignominious black eye... and the team short-changed its playoff quest by waiting until they were 4 - 9 to do anything.

We can all be happy with the end result right now... but there's no escaping that what transpired to get there is one of the most embarrassing situations in franchise history... and that's not something to be taken lightly considering the plight of this franchise.

Yeah sorry Monster. Shame on me though...there were plenty of stories out there that should have told me not to jump on the JB bandwagon so early, but I chose to ignore them. No such stories exist about Rob and Dario to my knowledge. It was heartening for me to read the sadness on the Philly RealGM board when they talked about losing their 2 favorite players.

...but rather than waiting until training camp to begin trade discussions in earnest, would we have perhaps reached this deal eventually anyway if things had started much earlier in the offseason, after Butler made it clear he wanted out.

We won't know what would have been available if thibbs decided to look for butler deals, but im happy with the return. I don't need to think about the what ifs.

Covington may not have been the best individual player we could have gotten, but he's the player that we needed.
