Our home opener could be a disappointing one. The Heat won't have Butler on the floor for them, so we won't have a target for ridicule and booing. And even without Butler, the Heat look like they're a really solid team. They beat the Bucks tonight. A big part of what makes them good so far this season is rookie guard, Kendrick Nunn. He went undrafted in 2018 and was signed by the Warriors as an undrafted free agent. Then the Heat signed him this summer and have make him a starter. He started off the season with 40 points in the Heat's opener and he continues to impress.

So should we be really surprised by what Nunn is doing so far in Miami? No, we shouldn't. He averaged nearly 39% from behind the arc in his college career. And as a Junior at Illinois, he averaged 15.5 points, 5 rebounds and 1.5 steals while hitting 39% of his threes. I'm still waiting for the Wolves to find their own Kendrick Nunn.

Nunn went undrafted for non-basketball related reasons. He had a history of domestic abuse and teams ultimately decided that the talent did not outweigh his potential baggage. Is he a very talented player? Absolutely, but it takes the right franchise to turn around guys that may have issues like that. The Wolves currently are not one of those franchises. The Wolves right now are far more interested in bringing in good guys and creating feel-good stories followed by winning basketball.

I agree, Miami is the perfect place for him. Tucked away in a boring, socially conservative part of the country will do him some good. :)

Still, Lip's point is true. We just never find guys like this. Bad drafting, bad player development, and bad scouting for diamonds int the rough is the three legged-stool of misery for this franchise.
