Jim Pete unloads on Thibs in emotional podcast

Post by BloopOracle »

A couple minutes in it starts and then Jim goes off on a juicy, revealing, BLUNT release ( he even prefaced his rant by saying he needs to open a vein right now ) detailing how terrible it was for eveyone having Thibs around

Okay, a lot of thngs come to mind here. First, if you listen to this, can anyone still say it was bad timing to let Thibs go? The only thing you could say is it should have happened sooner. But firing Thibs was obviously 100% justified no matter when it happened.

Second, i'm sure someone here can answer this, who is Peterson employed by? Is it Fox, the Wolves or a combination of both? If he isn't employed by the Wolves I would have to ask why he hasn't spoken about this until now? If he is on the Wolves payroll i guess i understand it. But reporters will ask all kinds of what i consider to be terrible, leading questions. For example, asking Mike Tomlin if Antonio Brown quit on the team. I hate leading questions that only serve the interest of the interviewer. But my point is, media types can do that, but then they can't report about what really is happening? I feel this vitriol should have come out a long time ago and believe Thibs was protected from it. That's not how the free press is supposed to work in this country.

Maybe not bad timing, but the timing was strange which can be proved by the fact that everybody talked as much about the timing as they did about it being justified. I didn't see a single interview/article in which the odd timing wasn't a major piece.

Absolutely! And the fact that there were so many good opportunities to do so makes the timing of his actual firing all the more strange.

Agreed.

I'm listening now and he said he wasn't allowed to watch practices or shoot arounds, and that Thibs told people not to talk to him. Thibs is apparently even more miserable than he appeared.

Britt mentioned it in his latest article but didn't elaborate on the circumstances. I've commented plenty how Pete has been shredding Tibs during the telecast. This isn't surprising at all.

Well, I think it's safe to say Thibs will not be a head coach or GM in the NBA ever again. Not that he needs the money, but the guy is a lifer. I do think a lot of teams would line up to have him as an assistant, if he cares to do that again. I could also see him being a studio analyst, believe it or not.

Wow. That was great, and insane. Thibs really was a psycho.

Cool, I'm pretty sure Petersen is employed by the Wolves, along with Dave Benz. But even if he was employed by FSN, the Wolves are paying them to do the games, no? If the color guy of the broadcast team ripped the head coach and GM to pieces all the time, do you think the Wolves would renew their next contract with FSN? Probably not. So either way, there was a line Petersen just couldn't cross.
