CoolBreeze's 2 Things I Didn't Like Tonight Plus 1
Thought it would be a good time to bring out the ole 2 + 1. It was a really fun game to watch, and I have some strong feelings to share. So here is the long overdue version of the 2 + 1:
1) Do we need to have a constantly bellowing ogre on our sideline in order to get a couple calls? I never really thought about it, but if Thibs was good for one thing it was working the refs to insure we didn't get the short end of the stick. I thought the game was poorly officiated in favor of the Thunder tonight. KAT was in foul trouble all night, with some questionable calls at best. Teague gets tossed where I've seen a lot worse happen that doesn't result in an ejection. Wig had to leave in the 3rd with his 4th foul. It's almost a miracle we were able to win in spite of all this. I had to watch the NBA TV feed so I'm not sure what our announcers thought about it, but I didn't like it at all. Hopefully Ryan gets the respect from the officials that Thibs fought so hard for every night.
2) Hate the entitlement of some of the games biggest stars. Russell Westbrook acted like an asshole for most of the game. Arguing calls that nobody should expect to get. Grandstanding after a couple of his good plays and yelling motherfucker to the crowd while he celebrates. I'm glad the NBA officials are well paid because that is one thankless job. Having to deal with the Westbrooks, Griffins, Rivers', Green's et al would drive me nuts.
Plus 1 - Two quick thoughts for the Plus 1: It was really cool watching Ryan roam the sidelines. You could see some of his Father's mannerisms and it brought back some nice memories. And then to get his first win in that environment is really special Very happy for Ryan and the Saunders family tonight. And finally, Andrew Wiggins is one grown ass man.
And that's Cool's 2 + 1, thanks for reading.

I was honestly burned the hell out by Thibs and was watching less and less. I felt like the team was spinning its wheels most of the time. The firing couldn't have come at a better time for me, personally.
I have a sneaking suspicion that Ryan will do very well here. If he is as ambitious, resourceful and as crafty as his dad, he could be a gem.
Also Wig is reminding me of the young Wig that attacked and got into rhythm by attacking. I like that he seems to have a couple big defensive plays per game and is more noticed on the glass.

Good to have the 2+1 make an appearance.
We did win the ft battle though and the thunder commited more fouls. But I miss the first half so I didnt see how towns got into foul trouble.
Wig , I though earned those 18fts tonight. He was in attack mode and only commited 1 turnover. He had a couple of plays run for him where he received the ball on the catch going to the rim and was effective with that. He works well with a saric and tolliver who spread the floor for him. I dont expect this andrew everynight but 10fta a game should be the goal for him.

Good to see the 2+1 return.
But I don't necessarily agree about the officiating. The Wolves got 40 free throws... 14 more than the home team. Bad calls happened on both sides.
There will be many other worthy games to use the officiating card on...

If you just handle the road games and lip does the home game reports, we good.

I'm going to add one. Ryan ran his dad's favorite play to honor him to start the game. (Bad set and Wiggins bailed them out) I love that stuff

Great to see the 2 plus 1 back! Did something happen recently that restored your interest in the team?
I gotta agree with Abe...with the exception of the Teague double T (which ironically might have won us the game), I saw this as a well-called game. Tough to complain when you get 40 free throws.
There were so many things I liked tonight, I'm going to turn around the thread and call it One Thing I didn't like Tonight Plus Many!
I thought Okogie was dreadful and could have cost us the game (in the end he may have won us the game with that big 3 though). His gambling on defense resulted in no steals and many open looks for the Thunder, and his offense was terrible. Several times he would force a shot and the result would be a fast break bucket for OkC. Even his do shit stats were awful and that's something he's usually good at...I rebound and 1 assist in 37 minutes, really? I know the prevailing opinion on this board is that we need to give Josh minutes to develop him and I don't necessarily disagree. But I want to make the playoffs, and he's not helping us enough right now.
I continue to think he needs to be odd man out when RoCo and Rose both come back...just don't want him taking minutes away from Wig, Tyus, Rose and Rob. Maybe he needs a stint in Iowa to get his minutes and develop his offensive game...he can shuttle back to the team if a wing gets injured. Even better, Laydon finds a way to get value for Teague before the deadline. In that situation I might feel comfortable with Ryan giving him 12-14 behind Wig, but only if he can convince him to not force shots.
But everything else was incredible...what a win! Wig played like I've never seen him before, even corralling some tough rebounds in traffic. I'm not ready to credit Ryan for the turn around (if there even is one) because I have seem a different look in his eye since the Orlando game. It's like the "shitty fans booing" incident lit a fire under him. I don't know what it is, but I like it.
There was so much else I liked tonight, but ultimately this night was for Ryan and Wig, I didn't expect such a big coaching difference when I teed up the "what will be different" thread, but there was so much tonight. I'll save it for that thread.

Re: CoolBreeze's 2 Things I Didn't Like Tonight Plus 1
Thanks to all of you for the kind words. On second thought maybe the officiating wasn't bad, it's just that it really targeted our key guys and seemed to be lopsided that way. I still don't like some of the calls on KAT though. I mean two guys fighting for position should be left to battle it out.
One other thing I want to mention is about Tyus. LST, yes by all means if we can move Teague we should do it. I'm convinced Tyus should be our starting point guard. Mchale said as much during the telecast that when Tyus came in he expected the ball movement to improve. If Tyus could start there is nothing wrong with Rose getting big minutes in a 6th man role. We just seem to be a better team when Tyus is out there and more people get involved.

Best thing about the departure of Thibodeau? The return of Cool's 2+1. :)
