[Note: Small sample size be damned... the Wolves have 4 subpar shooting PGs on the roster. It wouldn't hurt to have one of them able to shoot at an even mediocre efficiency.]

That's pretty much what my expectations were coming into the season. I figured those stats were a given, but we had enough elsewhere to compensate.

I think the PG is a lot like the QB in the NFL. If you have poor play there you are going to struggle. I think we will get better for sure, but not going to win much if this trend continues.

Heck, Rubio alone was at 10.1 ppg in only 30 mpg last season.

There is no question it needs to get better. To your point, even Rubio was able to to score 10 PPG (and fairly efficiently I might add thanks to free throws) last year playing 2/3rds of the game.

Parker for SAS has started the year terribly on offense, but Patty Mills has picked up the slack. It seems only a matter of time before Patty Mills should start for that team. He's been one of the best backups for a few years now.

Presumably, being more of an offensive threat is where Dunn has a leg up on Rubio, but we haven't seen it yet. And while neither of these guys have a good outside shot, at least Rubio can knock down free throws. Dunn has been an unreliable free throw shooter going back to his college days.

Dunn definitely seems like more of a driving combo guard to me. That may be OK with Thibs, as he built a pretty good team around Rose when he was healthy and playing like that.

Still, I hope Dunn develops his outside shooting. It was decent in college, but the longer 3 pt line and longer defenders seem to be giving him trouble. We hired a Chip Engelland subordinate from SAN as our shooting coach; hopefully that bears fruit.

I love Rubio and his game, and his +/- is always stellar. That said, I am no longer hoping for his shooting to improve. It has been bad for way too long to expect much if any change at this point. If you could go back in time, I'd try to talk him into shooting left handed when he was just starting.

Yes, if Dunn can become a better outside shooter, he could be the idealized version of Rubio. Although I doubt he'll ever quite exhibit the same level of passing skills.

Even though both guys are really good on defense, it is interesting noting the difference in approach.

Rubio seems to see one step ahead on both ends of the court. Thus, he knows where the next pass is going and jumps the passing lane to get it. When he presses up he has quick hands to poke the ball loose. He also moves his feet well. He struggles to get through screens IMO.

Dunn is an ace at staying in front of his guy and slipping screens. He is pretty physical for his size. He also seems able to get the guard equivalent of "weak side shot blocks". He darts in behind someone else's guy and knocks the ball loose.

Dunn is very streaky shooter. His misses can be very ugly, like not even close. His finishing is also sub par. I don't think he's explosive vertically. He's fast and quick though.
