Love it. I wanted them to somehow capitalize on Denver's depth but didn't think they'd be able to. Like Beasley and got a mid first.

Now leave Russell alone.

That's honestly a pretty nice haul. It will be interesting to see if the Wolves can get Juancho and Beasely on solid deals going forward with them being RFA. I think Hernangomez is a guy that could end up being a really solid player. These guys are experienced players but still young.

Sounds liek even more players on the move in this deal per Woj. Vonleh and KBD to denver Bell to houston and Jared Vanderbuilt to MN. don't know much about Vanderbuilt but he is wing that just turned 20. Sad to see KBD go but It makes sense if they decide to commit to Juancho in some way.

Edit: Napier to Denver.

Not a bad return. Brooklyn's pick is currently sitting at 16. It does have a top 14 protection (until 2022) which I wasn't aware of. Malik Beasley and Juan Hernangomez are solid bench additions. Evan Turner is an 18 mil expiring.

Meh.

So Beasley is... fine. I guess. But he basically only shoots three pointers. He's had 3 very bad NBA seasons and one pretty solid one. He doesn't defend well. Doesn't rebound well. Doesn't pass well. And he's about to get paid this offseason. Probably triple his current salary? So doesn't that make him a very poor man's version of Covington? How much are the Wolves willing to pay to keep him?

Hernangomez's TS and eFG percentages are actually lower than Jarrett Culver's right now. I didn't know that was possible. Smokescreen from Rosas to hide the rook's shooting woes? Oh wait... Evan Turner's shooting is even worse. But obviously, he's just salary cap room... that's a good thing for future moves.

A mid-round pick from the Nets. Ok.

Considering Covington was THE top asset this team had... no sure things sans cap room... one guy about to get a huge raise... and a middling 1st round pick in a really bad draft...

I dig the pick + the cap space. But those things are intangible. It's time the Wolves actually do something with them...

[Note: Bell, Napier and Bates-Diop weren't great... but the Wolves very possibly (probably) actually downgraded the roster's talent. But I don't think we can judge this one in a vacuum. There's obviously more stuff going down... ]
