Rubio changing agents...

Says he wants to win. Is there something between the lines here?

I think it's been pretty much in the open that he wants to win. Sid was right all along I guess.

I don't think it has much of an effect on Ricky, however the news about Shabazz hiring Rich Paul means he is signing with the highest bidder, good luck to him somewhere else in his future

It makes sense for Bazz to leave. He did everything the coaches asked him to hear and was rewarded with 19mins of playing time. He's going to go somewhere where they will pay him and play him. It makes sense that he would want that.

Rubio wants to win but remains the same player he was as a rookie. So basically everyone else needs to get better and be content with what he's always brought to the table.

Hey now!! Are you suggesting that a win loss record reflects someone's value on the court? Nonsense.

Expectations have fallen for Ricky at the same speed that expections have risen for every other player. Coincidence?

"Rubio wants to win..." so like what's the other soundbite option for him to say? Who doesn't want to win? If we are talking about his interview from last offseason Jon K and a few other have said that's Rubio wasn't anywhere near an ultimatum just saying he really wants to win and Jon has said multiple times he likes it here and wants to stay. There has been plenty of chatter about Rubio's agent leaking stuff and there was plenty of talk over the years they wanted Rubio somewhere else. Heck Rubio had to tell them he wanted to sign here for the contract he has now and they aren't happy about it. Maybe he has decided it's time to go another direction. This may sound like a homer optimistic take but we are speculating here there are some positive options to this. If Rubio wants to win where are these magical places he can force he way into that have a much better future than the Wolves?

Well said, Monster. Ricky is here for at least two more seasons unless Thibs gets an offer for Rubio from another team that he thinks would make the Wolves significantly better. Given how Ricky finished the season and the things Thibs said about him, I'd be surprised if any team offered enough to trigger a deal. And if Thibs does get an offer that causes him to trade Ricky, Thibs decision will have absolutely nothing to do with Ricky's desire to win. No agent is going to force Thibs to deal Ricky to a championship contender.

So yes, Ricky wants to win. That's no different than any other NBA player except maybe smiling Wes Johnson. Why he's changing agents is a mystery. Perhaps he's disappointed in his prior agent's lack of success getting Ricky endorsement deals. Maybe he's disappointed in his contract and thinks his agent should have gotten a bigger contract or a shorter term in anticipation of the new CBA. But based on what we heard, Ricky wanted to stay here and was interested in a long term deal. At the time he received his contract it was reasonable for both parties. I doubt the agent change has anything to do with Ricky wanting a more hard-driving agent representing him since there is no tougher agent that Dan Fegan. Flip told me about how hard it is to deal with Fegan. NBA teams hate dealing with him. So maybe Ricky wants an agent who will build a better relationship with the Wolves front office. Or maybe Ricky wants an agent who won't leak trade take information or who will stop teams from leaking that sort of stuff. Whatever the reason, I can't see any logical connection between Ricky's decision to change agents and the odds of him staying with the Wolves.

That decision is totally within Thibs' control for the next two seasons and his job is to do what's best for the Wolves, not Ricky. Thibs doesn't seem like a guys easily pushed around. Besides, he has no reason to cave. Ricky's not the sort of player to pout and refuse to play hard. And if Ricky really wants to leave because he's tired of losing, then he's not alone. But as Flip told me, winning has a way of changing the minds of players who say they want to leave. That's why Flip argument against the decision to trade Marbury. And that's why Ricky will be here at least another season unless some team makes an unexpectedly irresistible offer. And if this team makes the playoffs, which is definitely achievable, then I don't think we'll see any more quotes form Ricky or any other T-Wolf player complaining about losing.

Maybe they should have asked him to pass.

Good riddance.
