I probably won't listen.
I just didn't find Towns' previous media collaborations to be even remotely interesting. Too calculated? Too contrived? Simply too boring?

Thanks for the analysis Abe. Too cynical? Too Negative? haha I haven't listened yet either btw.

Totally agree with you Abe, scripted and fake is what comes to mind.

Me? Or Towns?*
Provincial angle aside, there are simply so many other good NBA podcasts out there. Towns is a young kid who's still learning and flailing with it at times. Maybe that would make a really good podcast. I'm just not holding out hope.
Previously, Towns seems to say what he's supposed to say as a 21-year-old budding superstar. Give me a Boris Diaw talking about nailing hot chicks three-at-time on his boat while drinking espresso any day over that. Ummm... or something...
* We all know Towns has probably been "coached" from seeming too negative.

I haven't listened yet either. I hope he gets away from the scripted answers. I am thinking all of the unmet expectations might lead him there. But we'll see.
Re: Mark Stein talks With Towns
Well that was a big yawn. I guess he's just kind of a boring guy. It does sound like he's cool with being in Minnesota for the long haul.

I wouldn't read much into that, he makes it a point to say what he thinks he's supposed to, or expected to say. He could well be counting the days until he can force his way out all while his agent is telling him to be careful not to let on and ruin your reputation with the fans. I don't believe that for a moment, but nor do I believe much else he says comes from the heart though.

Man tough crowd.
Was it interesting? Not really but he sounds like a patently smart and grounded dude. I did think talk about when he quit basketball and played baseball exclusively for a year was interesting. I thought his talk about golf was kinda fun. If you didn't want to listen because you didn't think it would be interesting that's cool you were pretty much right but if feels like there is also the sentiment that he might be a fake. That's too bad.

He's a phenomenal player with unbelievable upside. He also wants badly to take on the leader role with the Wolves, and to that end I believe he does his best to say the right things and present the right image, even if it's possible that what he's saying at the moment doesn't match watch he believes. What I say isn't meant as an insult, KAT is not a Sir Charles type of personality and his interviews tend to be filled with a lot of coach speak, which doesn't make for the most interesting interviews.
I love the guy, love to watch him play, just not all that interested in his interviews! :D
