I'll be impressed if he contributes anything of significance to this team by the end of his rookie deal.

I'm excited to see what he can do. I know he probably won't play this year but good teams develop young talent. We need to do that. His skill set is intruiging in theory.

The Wolves have a pretty poor history of drafting and developing players, but this G-League set up is tailor-made (pun intended!) for a guy like Patton, who would otherwise not get any reps with the big league team. I absolutely want to see him get more than a token game or two in Iowa.

Wolves win! Wolves win! The Iowa Wolves that is....

Justin Patton made his season debut, coming off the bench for our favorite G-League team. In only 16 minutes, he had 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 blocks. He was 5-9 from the field and 5-5 from the line.

I actually watched some of this game. Patton didn't quite look as good as his box score. He seemed pretty rusty and tired easily (which is understandable). But he really does roll to the rim after he sets a pick. Every. SIngle. Time. He has soft hands and a nice touch from the stripe. Defensively he looked solid, with 4 blocks and hedging on PnRs, then getting back to his guy pretty quickly.

He needs to get stronger and bigger in my opinion, but it was about as good of a debut as you could expect from someone that hasn't seen real game action for such a long time.

Outside of looking sluggish ( expected for his first action), I thought he looked good defensively. His head was on a swivel and his feet were active.

I also love that he is quick to rim run.

Yeah, he just dives to the rim every time. He's definitely a Center. I don't know, G-League....tough to really take much from it.. I'd like to see him play 10+ games down there this year.

Do you think he'll end up playing with the big Wolves anytime this season?

One other thing that I noticed that I really liked about Patton was how he rebounds.

He boxes out, creates space, and then secures the board. Kat and dieng don't really rebound space well. Both guys just jump for it.
