Whoa. Good player, but that is a lot of money.

It seems weird that a few of the top guys can get paid such a high percentage of their team's cap (in this case 25%, but Curry's getting something like nearly 40%?!?!), which inevitably leads to a real disparity that pushes plenty of good role players down to making very little money (relatively speaking). I wonder if the league or the players' union sees this as a problem.

I can see a day when pretty good (not great) players who used to be like 7-10 guys on rosters just leave for overseas because there won't be enough money left for them here, so every roster will have 4-5 guys getting paid a ton, and then a bunch of scrubs or unlucky bastards signed to vet minimums.

It will be interesting to see how things shake out. The experienced vet min guys get over 2 million now. That's one reason for some guys to get into the league because the longer you are here the more money you get paid. The NBA needs to continue to develop the G-league and I think salaries there could keep going up.

The players union is headed up by max guys like CP3 who specifically negotiated for these huge deals for those types of players. Plus the scrubs got huge pay days last summer. Max deals are supposed to be huge so building a team around those guys is very difficult. It was designed so 3 max guys is basically your whole team so you might think twice about keeping 3 guys and just go 2 with some higher priced role players. The guys who run the union are more interested in making sure the top gets paid more than the middle.

Jrue's injury history was a risk but if he is healthy its a big payoff. To me the Wolves especially for the money it would cost didn't need to make that move. They have a nice roster they don't need to take a risk like that instead they went with a pretty safe option in Teague plus its only a 3 year deal instead of 5 THe Wolves would have likely had to come close if not beat the NO offer. NO was more desperate in a number of ways plus he was their guy. I hope the guy stays healthy. He is a nice player.
