GDT: Dear God, Send Us a Miracle...
I never make the game threads so I figured we could use a shakeup. Warriors at 7:00 ET tonight and they're coming off a loss to the Grizzlies so... I'd expect them to be even more focused tonight. I fucking hate that team. I hate their cocky, arrogant, smug personalities and I hate the way they've changed the league. I know I'm on an island with that take, but it's true. They've made the league a video game; taking and making contested threes early in the shot clock, pulling up from 30-feet out for no reason, etc. I know that they also share the ball very well, but that to me isn't enough to make me not hate them.
We can't forget Draymond Green. From underdog and overnight success story to an "enforcer" who plays the game dirty. How many times can this guy get away with letting his leg flail and hitting people where it shouldn't? It's bullshit.
Go Wolves.

Heh, yeah, I freely admit that my dislike for the Warriors is at least 50% sheer jealousy. But the other 50% is their smug owner, Green's antics, and Durant's bandwagoneering.
On another note....Memphis is the anti-Wolves. They are banged up and undermanned, have very few lottery picks on their roster, have multiple rookies in their rotation, yet here they are in the playoff mix for the Western Conference. Oh, and they have a brand new coach. These guys haven't skipped a beat despite all the adversity and change.

Is this a request for TimTheSaint?!? :)
It would be a miracle to win tonight. KAT and Wigs have to learn how to sacrifice their games to make others better. But that will be a process, not a flip of the switch. And it may take a quality veteran to get them to understand it.

This is the kind of game I can look forward to as a Wolves fan, if they lose by 30 it's not remotely surprising. If they lose by 15 it's a positive surprise. If they lose by single digits it's Christmas come early. If they win it's a sign of the end of times, so yeah, there could still be a negative outcome.

Q, I think you misspoke (typed?) when you said Memphis is in the playoff mix. I haven't checked the standings, but I'm fairly certain they are somewhere near the bottom for several reasons beyond all the injuries they have had.
1) They have a new coach, and we all know it takes several months to adapt to a new coach's "system". Their fans need to be patient during this inevitable transition time.
2) Further, they made a terrible selection for coach. There were several recycled recently-fired old white coaches available, but instead they blundered by hiring an untested young black coach with no proven history of success. How is a 42-year-old black guy from South Central LA supposed to motivate and relate to today's NBA players?
3) Plus his sideline behavior is weird and destined for failure. He doesn't constantly stalk the sideline bellowing criticism at his players...how are they going to learn? And the constant positive reinforcement he doles out to his players is going to give them swelled heads and lead to complacency.
I feel bad for the Grizzlies.

Hey, another unjustified Minnesota/Memphis comparison. Would you look at that?

Obviously this is going to be a tough game for the Wolves. We're playing terrible basketball and coming off a 27-point loss to the Pistons, and my analysis tells me the Warriors are every bit as good as the Pistons. I sense perhaps a "moral victory" tonight should be our goal.
I recognize the Warriors are not popular on this board, but I have to admit I kind of like them. Green rubs a lot of people the wrong way, but talk about a guy that does shit! The three scorers get all the press, but look who's leading the team in rebounds and assists...has a PF ever led a championship team in rebounds and assists? Sure, he does some borderline dirty stuff on the court, but I hold the refs responsible...if his behavior is so outrageous, the refs need to punish it. I'll take him on my team any day. As others have noted, I love the way they move the ball, and I admire the quick release and accuracy of their three shooters. Finally, I like what Iggy and Livingston give them off the bench. Gonna be a tough night for our boys tonight.

Yes, the Grizzlies have vets, blah, blah, blah....but let's face it, they are overachieving. I mean, they have Andrew effing Harrison starting games for them! Who is Troy Williams? The 20-year old Wade Baldwin is playing minutes for them.
Two of their three best players are on the shelf. I know that if this were the Wolves from almost any era in franchise history, if you took two of their better players out, the team would collapse and go into the fetal position.

That's culture and how the new guys they have are buying in.
Tonight is a road game for the Wolves.

Oh my god I just watched Memphis last night and thought if we had 20% of the heart that team plays with we'd be well above .500. That team is so much fun to watch. They play every play like it's their last. Seriously, just laying it all out there, balls out, working hard at all times on every play no matter how far away they are from the ball. Plus they clearly love playing with each other. No complaining about calls, they just fucking grind. So much fun to watch. Why can't we be like them?
On a related note, Memphis has a very good fanbase too. No offense to any of you guys (I'm sure those of you who go to the games get into it), but why do our home fans suck so much? That place is dead quiet. The most energy I've seen them show was booing our own guys the other night. Sad!
