Wolves @ Knicks DEC 2nd GDT

Post by Tactical unit »

I am catching a train from New Haven, CT where I am stationed and headed to MSG in about 2 hours. Grab a bite to eat and watch the game with a long time friend that lives in NY and is a Knicks fan. Super stocked to see this young group of Wolves players live and hopefully get revenge for the last loss!

Let's Go Wolves!!!!

I'm assuming you're in the military. If so, thank you for your service, first and foremost, and what branch do you serve, if I may ask?

Have an awesome time at the game. Hopefully the Wolves come out firing and get a much-needed win. I believe they will.

What are top 3 keys to the game tonight?

Mine are;
1. Man Defense - Got to keep Rose & Jennings in front of us tonight.
2. Rebounding - An extension of great defense, got to keep them off the glass!
3. Shot selection - We can't take difficult shots early in the shot clock, we have to many talented players that can get off a shot whenever they want to settle for bad looks early in the shot clock. We also can't pass up an open look early in the shot clock.

Agreed with those three keys to the game, and I'll add a fourth that I find to possibly be the most important.

4. Bench production. The Knicks destroyed us in this category last game. We've struggled to get much from the second unit all year actually. I'm still waiting for Tyus Jones to eat into Kris Dunn's minutes. I'd also like to see Bjelica against a bench SF while bringing in Payne or Hill (if he's still alive) to add some size to our group.

I got NBA league pass so I catch every game and your right the bench has been horrific. I'd like to give a look at this starting lineup.
PG- Lavine
SG - Wiggins
SF - Bjelica
PF - Towns
C - Dieng

I don't like the idea of yanking LaVine out of a role that he's excelled at only to put him in a position where he's struggled mightily. Maybe he can grow into that level of facilitator, but we're not there yet.

Lavine at PG as a starter is a very bad idea. If for no other reason we aren't contending this year you may as well at least start Dunn or Tyus to see what you have give them experience. Lavine isn't the answer at PG play him at SG and enjoy his game and let him figure out how to play there on both ends of the ball. One thing we forget about him defensively is he has played a lot of minutes guarding PGs. That's a different type of matchup than guarding a chunk of SG especially within a team concept. Sometimes it's not much different but sometimes the gameplay would be very different.
