Which One Would You Trade
Which One Would You Trade
If you could trade any of our "big three" (Wiggins, Lavine or KAT) this season for any player who has never played in an allstar game, which one of our three would you trade and for whom? Your choice doesn't necessarily have to be realistic, just the swap (one for one) you'd make if you could with the only limitation being the exclusion of players who have appeared in at least one allstar game -- e.g., LeBron, Curry, Harden, etc.
My answer is something I've alluded to before. I'd swap Wiggins for the Greek Freak. Sadly, it's not realistic because the Bucks would never do that deal.

I wouldn't trade any of them right now, but if I was going to, it'd be Andrew Christian Wiggins. I'm sure my answer doesn't surprise anyone as I've said exactly that for months. I also said during Wiggins and Zach LaVine's rookie campaigns that the latter had the higher ceiling between the two for reasons that have been discussed and debated a great amount of times already. And through 31 games this season, I have and will continue to argue that LaVine has been the superior player on both ends of the court -- yes, even defensively.
I doubt anyone in their right mind would vote to trade Karl-Anthony Towns. He's as untouchable as it gets, in my opinion. He's the total package in terms of skill, work ethic, mentality, size, and athleticism. He's already a star in this league despite him not being a winner just yet. He's also been playing more under control as of late, and as a result, he's shown the efficiency we all loved from him as a rookie. Perhaps he's gotten past some of those egotistical obstacles he had in front of him. People handle success (and failure) differently.
As for who I would trade Wiggins for under Lip's rules, I can only think of two players that I would go for without hesitation: Giannis Antetokounmpo and Rudy Gobert. There are five other players that I would have to consider, but I'm less certain (than the former two) about. Those would be Jabari Parker, Kristaps Porzingis, Nikola Jokic, Otto Porter, and D'Angelo Russell.

None of the above. Keep this team together. Enjoy this group of guys.

This is really hard with the condition of not a previous all star. I think I'd swap one of our 3 for Porzingis. It'd would be fun if it was Wiggins or Zach just to have a front line of Porzingis and Towns. I don't think that's realistic either though. Beyond that it's really tough. I'd do Zach for Kemba Walker maybe.

Great answer, Cam. I've been with you on the Zach/Andrew comparison from the beginning as well. I like the way you've segmented the players you'd go for with Giannis and Gobert in the top tier and a list of five others you'd consider below them. The only one in your group of 5 I wouldn't consider would be Porter. I might put Porzingis in your A group with Giannis and Gobert. Good food for thought. The only one I'd pull the trigger on this season without hesitation would be Giannis, athough I'd be really tempted by Porzingis or Gobert.
It's posts like yours in this thread that keep me coming back to this message board.

I would trade Wiggins for these guys. I would rank them Giannais, Embid, and Prorzingis.
I would pause to trade him for Gobert. I suggested during Wiggins rookie year trading him for Drummond and got blasted for it. It would look pretty good at this moment. Drummond would add that physical presence we lack. Any of these trades would leave us with a huge hole at SF.
