Wolves Odds to Win NBA Championship

Post by Wolvesfan21 »

Wolves are a 25/1 shot at winning the NBA Championship.

Too high or too low?

Personally I think 100/1 would be more realistic. Wolves play above their pace while several other teams suffer injuries, plus some luck.

Of course it is to high but they have to keep that number around 25/1 so vegas dosen't get screwed if the Warriors and other teams get destroyed by injuries. Realistically they should be 500/1 and that is more credit to how good the Warriors are than the wolves. But future bets don't work like that or vegas would be killed if the improbable happens

I watched a little of Houston vs. Golden State last night. Keep in mind both were missing their best players - Durant and Harden. Both teams would have absolutely destroyed us. They were making well-defended shots left and right at the rim and beyond the arc. The firepower they have is just unbelievable. Hell, Gerald Green is playing unshackled, launching 3's from all over the place and making them in bunches.

I get what Thibs is doing. He's playing a style of ball that suits his personnel for the most part. We simply don't have the shooters to play a free style pace and space type of ball. So it's all about making up the 3-point differential at the free throw line and avoiding turnovers. That might be good enough to get us into the playoffs, but it won't work against either of these teams.

Of course they keep it lower to make money. The juice. But usually it's around 9%. Other thing could be if a player like LeBron or Durant went down with a major injury during a game people could quickly place bets on long odd teams. I'm not sure if all Bookmakers keep their Future bets offline during games or not.

Really unless a trio of Harden, Durant and LeBron all get injured the chances are slim to none for the Wolves I think this season. Even if Durant was out for the year GSW would still be heavily favored.

I don't know what the odds would be but anyone I knew that was putting money on the Wolves to win it all I think would be mostly flushing their money down the toilet. As Wetmore from ESPN 1500 would say there is a non-zero chance.

That reminds me of my best friend from HS his now ex-wife had a cousin that put some money on the Rams to win the Superbowl before the season started the year they won it all with grocery bagger Kurt Warner. It was not a small sum of money he ended up with and my friend said the money was gone in a couple weeks and other than some good times had nothing to show for it. We will just say that positive money management didn't seem to run in that family.

Too high. This team isn't consistent enough to win a seven game series against the top teams in the West. Their chances of winning a division championship are pretty good though.

Well, I think we're about ready to get a sanity check, starting tonight. Three of the next four games are against (relatively) healthy Boston, Cleveland, and OKC squads. I think we will see the gap that exists between us and the top teams (of which I think OKC is now approaching) fairly clearly.
