Will they take Payne, Hill, Lucas, Rush and the rights to Duke?

Talked to a Utah fan about this.

Hayward + Favors for Butler.
- Hayward is a FA and isn't an absolute lock to stay. Even if he does, Butler is on a cheaper deal and is better defensively.
- Utah is winning without much of anything from Favors. His deal expires after next season.
- This could open up money for the Jazz to resign George Hill?
- Getting two legit players for Butler seems like a nice haul for Chicago.
- Hayward and McDermott would wreak havoc on single white Christian ladies in the Chicago suburbs.

What would you give up for Butler... if you were Thibs?

Dick Bucher also said that Kyle Lowry was going to be S/T to the Miami Heat a couple off-seasons ago. And that Thibodeau was looking to move a young star even though everyone close to the organization said that was nonsense.

I do think that Chicago is listening to offers for Butler, but they won't trade him unless it is something as drastic as Wiggins and a top-five pick. You can count me out of that deal and that's while acknowledging that I'm a big Butler fan and have soured on Wiggins just a bit.

Hence the question mark in the title.

Ric Bucher seems to have slipped from NBA prominence in recent years. Could be from some of his less-than-reliable sources?

When was the last time anything Bucher had to say had any merit? It's both a snide question...and the more I think about it completely legit.

You might be right.

I remember when Bucher and Stein seemed like THE go-to guys for information. I think Stein is still pretty well connected, but he's less prominent, too.

With Bucher seeming less prominent, it could simply be that he moved from the monolithic ESPN to Bleacher Report.

Bucher used to be pretty good i thought some of his analysis was plenty solid too. The landscape of reporting stuff is so different than it was just a few years ago. There are so many more people getting info and the ability to share it quickly via social media is astounding. The fact that basically everyone texts makes sharing info even quicker and probably easier for a source to share with someone reporting. Has that affected Bucher? Idk but the way things have changed in communication the last 20 years is always amazing to me to look back on.

I put the rumor guys into different categories in terms of their reliability.

Woj: Lock. Doesn't report unless he has a great source and the move is imminent.

Stein/Jon Krawczynski: Near lock. They have very good sources and don't report unless something is close. Since they report earlier than Woj it might not happen since stuff often falls apart in the 11th hour.

Bucher 10 years ago/Doogie Wolfson/Steve Kyler: Maybe? They have sources but report really early. Maybe also get used by execs/agents to leak something to gauge reaction/cause side-effects.

Bucher now/Charlie Walters: Nah. Might possibly have something, but likely just putting some hot air out there in an attempt to stay relevant.
