Spain vs Brazil

Post by 60WinTim »

Man, Spain just looks terrible with or without Rubio. Their guards need to hit perimeter shots, and they aren't hitting them. And Rubio cannot help out in that regard! He did start the 2nd half, but was yanked pretty early. Rubio on to start the 4th quarter.

Rubio fouls out. He drew 3 fouls in his brief stint, but Spain has been pretty unimpressive.

Boy, Spain is in trouble, 0-2 now.

As for Ricky, I'm not sure what kind of takeaway there really is. We already know what he is and isn't capable of in the NBA and he seems to have less impact with his national team for some reason.

It's rather simple: no defensive 3 second rule plus smaller 3pt arc allow team to pack the paint thus limiting dribble penetration and it makes shooting more so important. And if you can't shoot then your impact goes down. But even with congested lane they would get much more out of Rubio if he was allowed go the the rim by design. Him standing on the perimeter and passing the ball around does nothing positive as he's not gonna shoot and just forces entry passes to Gasol in the swarmed paint.

Does this give us a look in to how playoff defenses will handle the Wolves when they make it there and if Rickys Still On the team.

Are there different set of rules in playoffs instead of regular season?

Rules? No.

Intensity? Strategy? Commitment? Customized defenses? Pressure?

Yes.

commitment to strategy of sagging off is maybe the only thing that can be applied here. And even then it can back fire if he hit a stretch of good shooting and confidence goes up.
