Payne to the D-League

Post by Monster »

He will be playing for Orlando's D league team. With Pek now getting minutes and Belly playing solid this makes a lot of sense. Hopefully he can get some good work in down there.

This is a good thing for the Wolves and Payne. To bad the Wolves don't have their own team....

At least there are some legit signs they are working on getting one.

Another good sign is the Wolves have been able to find places for their young guys to go to. Tyus got all the run you could ever hope for in his stint. It will be interesting to see what Payne's role will be and how long he stays there.

A cynic would say Orlando has an interest in Payne and this way they get a free look at him before pulling the trigger. Maybe part of a K-Mart deal...

Pek has played 8 games. They say he is ready to increase his minutes. 10 games is an important milestone because of the medical disability implications. So it would seem we are on course to having Pek back for the foreseeable future, which is a good thing.

Pek has gotten the start when KG has been unavailable. A Pek/KAT frontcourt is interesting, especially if Pek is able to play more minutes per game than KG.

Basically a lottery protected pick.

Seems like a good move....It feels like we should get Jones back down again too, as after his brief stint backing up Rubio, he's been in his civvies most nights.

Sammich doesn't know what he's doing with this team. He doesn't know who to play and at what position and for how many minutes/games. Maybe it's roster construction with too many part-time cripples/mentors. Please somebody come in here and fix this for us.

They may like having him practice with them but if he isn't getting any game action at some point sending him back down for a stint if they can find a spot for him makes sense.

Hopefully Payne can be better than the somewhat sad numbers Bennett put up in his stint this year.
