Sam Mitchell for another year?

Post by kekgeek »

"Not only do I endorse Sam Mitchell, but the other players do too." - Kevin Garnett

Listen: https://t.co/Ynvw1kTPAj

Now I know that KG is sticking up for his coach and friend but this quote scares the crap out of me. I mean it is Glen Taylor and the country club we are taking about

KG being KG. I wouldn't care what his thoughts are on the POBO or HC position. He's not part of the future. He's about to be retired.

The fanbase is already largely apathetic.

It would reach new depths with Mitchell running things for another year or two. The Wolves have never been a hotspot for prospective NBA coaches... until now.

I'm not saying it's the best job. But it's arguably never been more promising in the past 26 years.

How are the young guys learning to win? I'd say they are learning how to lose. Winning 2 of our last 17 games isn't much of an example.

I wish KG would STFU. Glen is going to have a hard enough time taking Mitchell out of there.

Genius move on KG's part! Use his weight with Glenn to sign Mitchell on for a couple more years, as the team continues to flounder it's value drops saving KG and his partners millions when they buy Glenn out!!

It should never be the player's decision. The Warriors would still have Jackson as their coach if players were allowed to make these decisions. KG shouldn't be blamed for showing loyalty. Most players do that. It's a sign of discipline.

AP guy already has multiple anonymous players who are frustrated with Sam so KG is just trying to save some face for Sam. If it got out that he lost another locker room in one year this time his head coaching career would officially be dead and it'd probably be tough to get a job as an assistant from anyone who isn't already a buddy of his. He did what you're supposed to do as a player when discussing a coach in public. You rip Sam behind the scenes, not on the center stage.

I disagree. The attractiveness of this job is way overblown.

Remember how attractive this job was supposed to be in 2009 and one by one every candidate with a brain turned this job down with Kahn left standing?

We'll see come April how much guys REALLY like this situation.

To be fair, the bar for the Timberwolves has been set REALLY REALLY low.

I'm not saying it's one of the marquee jobs in the NBA. But I can't remember a time in Wolves history when the job was available with this much promise on the roster.

I don't think it was as attractive in 2009. And I think Kahn was a deterrent... yet another reason the GM/POBO is so important.
