Love back for our 1st rounder

Post by Porckchop »

Would you consider it? I was on a different thread yesterday and it got brought up.
Speaking of KLove, I haven't seen LST on here in a while.

If our first rounder was outside the top-two, it's a no-brainier, in my opinion. You make the trade. He's locked up for three more years with a player option for a fourth. He's already gotten a taste of how the media/fans treat him outside of Minnesota. We've upgraded our talent tremendously since he was traded, which is significant because we had very little of it while he was here.

Imagine acquiring K-Love and then finding a way to sign Nic Batum so we roll out Rubio-Wiggins-Batum-Love-Towns next year. *laughing maniacally*

So everybody wants true two way players except if it's Love? On the offensive end it's certainly intriguing, on the defensive end it's a nightmare.

I don't know why Cleveland would do that though. They're in win now mode and unless they could get someone high quality in return for the pick I don't see it.

On paper, sure, but you're basically trading the pick for 2 trade rumor-free years of Love

That said, he's probably the best established player that pick can get you if you wanna go that route.

Not sure if this thread is referring to the next 3 weeks. But if so, the Wolves have no 1st rounder in the near future they can trade. Both Kahn (dumping Wes Johnson) and Flip (acquiring Payne) saw to that. Both those deals are linger over our heads. The good news is this is the last year for the Wes Johnson trade -- that first becomes two seconds if the criteria is not met this year...

Interesting question. A lot of people would have done the 5th pick for Love. If it is the 3rd pick you might get a guy like Dunn or someone in the top 10 might just dominant the rest of 2016 and move up to 3rd. I wouldn't be able to decide until June. I would likely not do the deal because I think Love's value has dropped a ton around the league.

Do you guys really think we're gonna get lucky in the draft again? I don't. Trade it for a vet.

Ok so here is my longer answer.

We don't know what spot we are slotted in and we really don't have a good handle of who will be available even if we were picking say 5th. I was a huge Love fan while he was here and I haven't really followed him with the Cavs but he is still aeems to have issues staying healthy which is troubling and it was to me while he was here. For me there is too many unknowns right now to do this theoretical unprotected pick for Love deal and I didn't even consider salary implications. Yeah the draft pick is uncertain but Love isn't exactly a sure thing either and that's coming from a guy that was a really big fan of his. I say "was" only because I have just mostly followed the Wolves since he has left I just haven't kept up with him and the drama in Cleveland and didn't see him in the playoffs last year because he was hurt by the time I was able to start watching.
