Are the Wolves buyers, sellers, or stagnant?

Post by Hicks123 [enjin:6700838] »

As we approach the trade deadline, would you look to buy, sell, or do nothing at all?

I ask because like every year, rumors are flying all over the place. Whiteside....Rudy Gay....K-Love, etc are all being talked about. Now, I fully understand that 99.9% of the media rhetoric is just that....talk. That being said, the Wolves are in a great spot. They have the young assets if the right piece came available. They could also sell those same assets for very solid future picks if that's the path they chose. Or, they can simply sit tight on all of the young potential talent and wait out the season.

I only bring this up because I am conflicted. While I love all of the assets, I love the idea of flipping some of those assets to attain a great player. I am not so interested in watching another 2-3 years of losing basketball. While I don't want the team to do something stupid, I would also be OK with cashing in some assets to get better now.

Where does everyone else stand?

I would pick sell in the way you defined it (but by selling aren't you also buying?.....nevermind).

I would continue to shop Martin and hope we get something in return, although I realize it won't be much. There really isn't much of a point to have him on the roster now.

Otherwise, I would sit tight until the lottery sorts itself out. At that point, I might be looking to sell that lotto pick, because if it's top 3, it could yield a big-time player in return. I too am tired of constantly waiting for young guys to get better. And some never do.

I picked do nothing. Martin's market unfortunately never developed (aka the only major injury at the two for a potential playoff team was Gordon and the Pelicans don't have the space to absorb him, they aren't swapping Anderson for him and their other matching contracts suck or aren't being moved). I think he can be moved this summer as a cheap deal with everyone else getting bigger deals. I think we're starting to trend upwards again so just leave it alone, finish the year and start making the moves in the off season.

I suspect the market for martin now is a 2nd round pick with a GUARANTEE from martin that he will OPT OUT after the season. I dont see it happening. Martin wont opt out because he wont get 7m next season even with the big salary jump. That is the sad reality with martin. He is worthless and even a negative as a trade value by himself.

Sellers. Everyone but Zach, Wig, Towns, Shabazz should be available. Martin needs to go, if for no other reason addition by subtraction. Pek, Tayp, Tyus, Belly, Rubio, Rudez, and even Gorgui if the right pieces come back. Ricky could get us a hell of a shooter I suspect.

Do nothing. I don't think we need to rock the boat. Things are finally getting watchable again and the rotation has been shortened, which is good. That needed to happen badly.

Obviously you look to trade Martin, Pekovic and Payne for anything worthwhile, but I don't see anything happening this year for any of them for different reasons. Stay with what we already have, develop the Rising Stars and if we happen to nab a top-four pick, then that's where we can make a splash (as well as free agency).

Do nothing, I mean you look to trade pek or kmart but don't think that will happen.

Do nothing unless you can unload Martin. Maybe Pek too, but he has potential (if his foot problem is finally behind him) to give us beef inside that we have been lacking.

Nothing significant will happen.

The POBO situation... and with such a young team with so many unknowns... in a stunted/purgatory season.
