Officials Review Process and NBA Report

Post by Leado01 »

I first want to say that you never blame officiating for a loss. We should have whipped Portland and they were the more aggressive team in the second half.

That being said:

It's bad enough that the officiating in the game Monday night had such an enormous impact on the outcome of the game, but when you read the NBA review of the final two minutes of the game, it makes no sense.

They admit that they blew the call regarding Towns and that should have been a double foul.

But other than that, they didn't admit that they blew the Wiggins goal-tending call citing that there wasn't an angle that provided conclusive evidence - but it didn't need to be conclusive if you believe in the laws of physics. The ball was clearly descending and in order for that to occur more than 50% of the ball has to be over the rim. That was just a cover-up. If they're going to give these reviews. Make them real.

They also claimed that the rim-touch/non rim touch that resulted in a jump ball was decided correctly as no team had possession. Given that there was still .3 on the clock when the ball touched out of bounds (the light had not gone red) it shouldn't matter as Portland knocked the ball out of bounds. Again, if you're going to break down film that closely, then get the call right.

That was a very frustrating game to watch and if you're going to use instant replay, then use instant replay. If you're going to review the calls, then review the calls.

It seems that the officials performing the reviews may have the same illness that Gerald Green is apparently suffering from.
