Zach and The Glove
I'm sure most of us are aware that Gary Payton has been in town for 3 days at the request of his friend Milt Newton to transfer some of his PG wisdom to Zach LaVine, although I haven't seen it mentioned here. Who knows what kind of an impact 3 days with Payton will have on Zach, but it can't be bad. Payton is one of my all-time favorites, and played with an underlying chip on his shoulder that might serve nice guys like Zach and Wig well if they could adapt it. Although he is known as one of the greatest on-ball defenders in NBA history, he also had a string of 20-8-4 seasons that show he was much more than just an elite defender. Zach is already a better 3-point shooter than Gary ever was, but there is so much he can learn from him about being a PG and the mentality that is necessary to be a star. The fact that Zach idolized him growing up can't hurt either...I gotta believe Zach was hanging on every word Gary said. It will be interesting to see if we note anything different in Zach's playing style tonight. At any rate, this was a terrific move by Milt.
Re: Zach and The Glove
I am pretty sure Monster posted it in another thread (although I can't remember which one).
I don't know that a couple of days with Gary will make much difference, but he sure can't hurt. Zach just doesn't come across as a player that is willing to grind it out on the defensive end. Payton clearly to a real interest in defending, and made it his calling card.

I was gonna point this yesterday but I don't remember doing so. Lol
I think we don't know for sure what Lavine is or isn't when it comes to what he is willing to do. He seems plenty willing to do about anything buy that doesn't mean he was successful at it.
What I took from this was Milt has some connections getting Payton to come in for a few days Seems at least moderately worthwhile and Lavine obviously found it pretty cool which doesn't hurt either.
Re: Zach and The Glove
Rubio seems to like it, too!
I used to dream of a KG/Glove tandem. But that was many moons ago...
