I'm now convinced Flip will take Towns
I've gotten the feeling since Flip first came back that one of his major goals was to change the perception of MN not being a good organization for players to go to. Curry being the prime example, not that we passed but that he didn't want to come here because of how we were viewed. Flip makes sure not to talk crap about ANY player I"ve noticed, like he is trying to create goodwill around the league.
Now to me he is doing the same thing when it comes to the draft, I think he knows he's taking Towns and that's why he's hyping up every other prospect that even has a remote chance to go number 1. He wants every player even remotely linked to the Wolves to have good memories when they hit free agency, get put on the trade block etc.
So yeah this is obviously just my gut feeling with virtually no evidence lol but I am confident Towns will be our guy.
Feel free to call me crazy :)

I am convinced that he will take Towns. He spews too much of the 2 way player narrative to backtrack now. Plus all of his success as a coach has come with bigs with a diverse game similar to Towns, like KG. He will fall back onto that if he has the chance.

I agree that Towns will be picked. But if for some reason he isn't, I'll give Flip enough credit to believe he truly sees something in Okafor that was worthy of passing on Towns.
Regardless, if we pick Towns, there is a decent chance that Okafor will turn out to be the best player. But I'd say the most likely scenario is they both become really good players. I really don't think we can mess this draft up.

One theory I've come up with over the last 2 days is that Flip could be sending out the Okafor signals in order to get the Lakers set on the thought of taking Towns and then in the last 24/48 hours send Towns smoke signals to try and get the Lakers to panic and over bid in order to secure Towns. Or possibly to cause as much confusion/murkiness in the top half of the lottery in the hopes of a player possibly falling?
I dunno maybe I'm just losing my mind at this point.

That's an interesting theory. I could be wrong, but Flip seems pretty straight forward in what he does. That doesn't mean he doesn't want to throw a wrench into things. Personally I think it would be very wise to try and extort assets out of the Lakers or 76ers. I think any of the big 3 could be stars in the league and getting additional assets along with one of the three is optimal.

I could care less about a future first round pick in the 20s from the Lakers. I also don't see the Sixers giving up anything that isn't heavily protected. Just take the player that's the best in this class, which is Towns in my opinion. If you're an Okafor guy, then I'd still take Okafor. Just take your guy and call it a good day.

You have to play the game though and see if they are willing to overpay. It would be foolish not to. If they aren't willing to overpay, no sweat just sit and pick. I agree a late first rounder does very little unless you know they Lakers want player X at 1 and you want player Y. Play the game and if your needs aren't met, sit and pick.

You have to make a call, sure, but when they say what they'll give up (which won't be much of anything because they're in a great situation as is), then okie dokie have a nice day.
This trading down business is more forum/Twitter talk than anything actually in play.

We should be discussing more about how Flip trades up in the first round from 31 & 36 instead of trading down from No. 1. That actually looks like something that'll happen.

Re: I'm now convinced Flip will take Towns
I agree with them not trading much to move up, but as a St Louis Rams fan I have seen an irrational team pay way too much to move up. Two different sports I know.
I don't know if we have to bullets to do this, but I really want to see Flip get back into the lottery. I want another young difference maker.
