ROY prediction thread
Ok now we have some preseason to go off of for this. Who do you got? Here is an interesting article from a philly fan

Town has a legit chance of winning it. I will go with him Okafor doesn't look like the no brainer I thought he would be but that could change. Towns looks ready more than I was expecting.

There will be lots of good Rookies this year. Will be interesting to watch. Last year was pretty much a two horse race with Wiggins/Parker and then Parker went down. Going back to the draft day and remembering some of the wild cards that went outside of the top 3...it wouldn't shock me if an under dog steals it this year with a big year.

I find it interesting that the author doesn't even mention Towns as having a shot. You would think the #1 overall pick would at least get a sentence or two, and Towns has looked fantastic in preseason to boot. I do see the obvious reasons for Mudiay, but I think there are five or six guys that have a shot based on what I have watched in preseason.

Towns has looked terrific in preseason, and has to be the odds-on favorite if he stays healthy. Mitchell's move to start KG and Prince signals that he wants Towns and Wig to be aggressive offensively, and that will help him with his scoring stats. I also see him pulling down about 8 RPG. If Pek returns and commands some minutes at center, I look for Towns to pick up some additional minutes at PF. We haven't seen it yet, but I think his three-point shooting will develop as the season goes on.
Although I don't think he will do much to help Denver win this year, my second choice for ROY is Mudiay. He is going to get his points and assists, and the award voters will overlook his turnovers and poor shooting percentage.
My third pick is Stanley Johnson, although his numbers may not turn out to be gaudy enough. He's not always going to be a big box score guy. You have to watch him to appreciate all he does to help his team win though...he's a complete player.
You can't leave Okafor out of the equation, but he hasn't been very good in preseason. He was such an efficient college scorer, but he's only making about 35% of his shots so far, and turning the ball over at an alarming rate. That tells me that he is trying to force shots against defenses he hasn't adjusted to yet. He'll get better as the season progresses, but I don't think he will be in the race with the other 3 guys.

I guessed Okafor when this question came up a number of weeks ago, but with Towns starting with a very defensive-oriented unit and a 2nd year wing that is still trying to find himself, he's essentially option #1B for us early in 1st and 3rd quarters. That could juice his scoring enough to be in the ROY race. My guess is that it comes down to Okafor, Towns, or Mudiay.

Don't sleep on Stanley Johnson. My darkhorse candidate.

I still can't convince myself he's going to be very good after an underwhelming year at Arizona. It won't be the first time I'd be wrong though if he really does break out.
