Would the Mavs be desperate enough

Post by Porckchop »

To take a flier on Pek if he has shown enough progress in his recovery? Wolves get a couple 2nd rounders in return or something.
I just don't see his usefulness on this team anymore. Between Towns, Ding and Kg the center position is filled as far as I'm concerned.. remember ,Kg played some of his best ball with the Celtics the last couple years occupying the lane .

I doubt it. It sounds like the Mavs wi go into tank mode. I agree it makes sense to move Pek if a quality opportunity arose.

Heh, not sure why this keeps coming up. No one is going to take damaged goods off our hands unless we are shipping some serious assets to go along with it. Pek is damaged goods until he proves he can play again over some sustained period of time. We're stuck with him.

Include Wiggins in that deal and I think you could convince them.

Hence why I said a desperate team. Not saying it makes complete sense. But neither did signing Pek last year in my eyes

Maybe we could sign Nick Wiggins and slip him into the trade and fool them? Pek and Wiggins for a future 2nd rounder...Cuban jumps all over that. lol

Theoretically, I think it could happen. Teams do crazy stuff to try to stay competitive. I'm torn between if Cuban is the type to cling to any sense of staying relevant or if he's smart enough to just rebuild. If he's clinging, as much as I like Pek, I would call them up and look to move him.

However, some of the language I've seen in regards to how Pek views his career and life after basketball seems very professional and forward thinking. Plus, he's always said he likes it here, might be the type of guy to accept a pay cut and reduction in minutes to save his body and still be making a paycheck. Wouldn't be bad to have Pek as a backup on a cheaper contract.

That's a nice move for the Mavs. They haven't thrown in the towel quite yet.

What a difference a year makes!
Last year. Trade Pek? That's crazy!
