There's two things that just seems outright bizarre to me taking place right now in the NBA:
1. I understand that the salary cap will increase dramatically over the next several years, so throwing cash out now doesn't seem as odd, but the idea that Cleveland can pay FOUR players 15+ million a year seems outlandish. They will without question approach Luxury Tax area next season but I'm curious to see if the future influx of salary money will actually allow the Cavaliers to be around the cap say, 3 years from now.
2. The Spurs are wheeling and dealing ladies and gentleman. 4/45 for Danny Green, 5/90 for Kawhi, trading Splitter to the Hawks, and potentially offering LA the same as Kawhi. I've become so used to San Antonio building their team through the draft and taking journeyman off the street, that potentially landing a Top 10-Top 15 player is news to me.

I think the Spurs will ultimately need to address their backcourt. Manu and Parker are sliding fast and you need one or two big-time playmakers these days. LMA is a great addition though.

Patty Mills and Cory Joseph can fill in for Parker, but its an open question whether either is a long term answer. Manu's minutes have been on the downswing and Green and Kawhi are eating them along with Belinelli. If Pop stays and LMA is signed as the eventual replacement for Duncan, the Spurs will still have a decent enough core (LMA, Kawhi, Green) to make the playoffs, though I think they won't be a serious contender without adding more pieces. They will have to rebuild their depth and hope they have their point guard of the future on the roster or will have to acquire one.

It's crazy that the NBA teams just handing out like a BILLION dollars these last two days to these not so "free" agents.
I think if it continues, we are going to see yet another lockout in the near future. There can't be a balance when you have that many players making that much money. And when the TV contract is out----and if in the meantime, we the buyers, stop spending on all these NBA appareals and whatnots----the following contract is going to be lower and players are not going to like it. Cause the cap is going to drop down.

Personally I can't wait to see the TV revenue bubble burst. The amount of people going away from spending loads of money on cable, DTV, etc is going down.

Yeah there are people letting go of cable etc. the thing is it's all about whether or not advertisers think people are watching. There is going to be more and more people watching games online. I didn't even watch the finals on network even though I could have I watched online. The NBA continues to take in big dollars that isn't changing anytime soon. These player contracts we are seeing right now don't shock me at all. There gonna be plenty of money to go around. The question is what will the owners give up so there is no salary cap.

I don't know....I shell out a fair bit of money to subscribe to NBA Broadband. If anything, the NBA is better able to monetize hardcore fans like us due to over-the-top technology.

Wait, I thought the owners didn't have any money, isnt that what caused the last strike?
