KAT vs AD
I compared KAT's stats so far with AD's first year and I have to say KAT is doing as well, if not a tad better, than AD did during his first year so far. KAT's edge is scoring, rebounds, blocks, 3 points and Free Throw Percentage and AD's edge is assists, steals, FG % and turn overs. AD had one more minute of playing time, but almost all the categories are real close. I remember during the preseason using AD as a comparison (more like a ceiling) and most thought that was pretty far fetched. But I don't think any of us expected KAT to be this good this soon and maybe KAT can be as good as AD (and hopefully without the same health issues :).

Yes, impressive stuff. I think a few of us have done comparisons of KAT to some of the past greats when they were rookies. He compares very well to multiple existing and future Hall-of-Famers.
That being said, he is in a little bit of a mini-slump here. Let's hope he can break out of it soon and keep getting better throughout the season.

KATs gonna be a stud (OK already is) but I'm fully expecting ups and downs this season from game to game. As a big man he'll benefit significantly from a full off season as a pro getting stronger. His skill set is already in place and he'll continue to hone that , but building stamina , strength, and knowledge via film room time will help him counter anything that defenses throw his way.. This year he'll get by on his athleticism alone. But he will wear down as the season goes on . That's why I'm not that upset about his overall minutes. It's frustrating when those minutes aren't in the the 4th but Gotta think more long term.

If Towns makes as big of a jump in Year 2 as Davis did...
... the Wolves are a legit playoff contender as soon as next season. And we're all going to be very happy.

Just for the record...13 out of 25 voters here had the Wolves more likely than not playoff contenders this year in last week's poll. Over 20% of the season completed and they are still sitting in the 8th spot despite having their starting PG on the bench about half the games. Kind of difficult to argue they aren't already a legit playoff contender. But then again, they are the Timberwolves.

Sure. It's all subjective.
The season isn't even 1/4 over with yet. And personally, I don't think they're legit contenders.

Re: KAT vs AD
Totally agree. There will be ups and downs. I believe his body is not NBA-big man ready yet. His legs need to get stronger and I think his upper body needs to tone up to help get his center of gravity lower.
We have already seen he can hang with most accomplished NBA bigs already. His ability to hit jumpers and soft-touch on jump hooks will be a huge asset when he is ready to assert himself as a late game closer.
He is also in a perfect spot where the Wolves do not need to rush him. They have Gorgui coming off the bench who still needs a lot of minutes to prove what he can or can't do in this league. We also will have Pek healthy at some point, so there is no need to rush KAT to wear him down or lead to injury. I think the FO and coaching staff knows what they have in him and knows he will be the player we all expect in the very near future.

I have been impressed with him at center. I thought he would get pushed around more. I think once Pek starts practicing with the team it will be interesting if we slide KAT more to PF. I think KAT will benefit a lot from going up against Pek in practices. It will help understand how much stronger he needs to get.

Come on LST you cited a poll of Timberwolves fans for proof they are a playoff contender? That's like going to a message board for android users and then claiming it's the best phone platform based on the poll results. Lol Just giving you a hard time. :)

i would like to see some PEK smash, with KAT protecting rim as 4 .. so we would not get raped hard as we were used to .. PEK is not a piece for future but if this works, we might get some value out of him
