Ty Lawson Traded to Houston

Post by TeamRicky [enjin:6648771] »

The Nuggets have reportedly agreed to a trade that will send Ty Lawson to the Rockets.
The Rockets will send over a 2016 protected first-round pick to Denver in addition to Kostas Papanikolaou, Pablo Prigioni, Joey Dorsey and Nick Johnson in exchange for Lawson and a 2017 protected second-round selection.

Big get for houston. Lawson is a legit starting pg in the league. Forms a nice pg combo with beverly.

On nuggets part. They should have traded lawson earlier. Maybe the moment they drafted mudiay. Instead they trade him at his lowest trade value.

Speaking of mudiay. He is going to be really good down the road. Nuggets is a perfect fit for him. He is going to be a steal after dropping to 7th.

Houston really did well landing Lawson for virtually nothing. They also signed KJ McDaniels to a three year deal at a bargain price. Rockets had a very good off-season and they should be right there with the Warriors and Spurs atop the West.

All things considered it's a good move for both teams. That DUI was what killed Lawson's trade value not drafting Mudiay. They could have theoretically played them together. They got something for Lawson at this point that's probably the way to go. I liked what I saw out of Papanikolaou.

So...the real question is which Houston player gets the nickname "Drunken Dribbler" Brewer or Lawson? Lol

I would rather have Payne then that drunk Lawson of the price of a lottery protected first.

Lawson - Harden backcourt might be one of the worst defending backcourts in whole NBA. I also don't think that Lawson is that good playing off the ball. It will be anyway still Harden with the ball when they both play together.

If Lawson will be coming from bench and Beverley will play most of the minutes with Harden, then this is real improvement for Houston rotation. Especially if it helps to keep Harden's minutes in control and him fresher to playoffs.

I agree with you Mikkeman. I wonder if Harden will be a more willing defender if he doesn't have to handle the ball all of the time. Maybe he will wan that MVP trophy and knows he will have to play both ways. He seems to have the talent to do it. The Rockets team looks pretty good on paper and has a good bench. West got stronger again at the top. I am sure the Mavs would have rather had Lawson then used a pick to see if Rondo was a fit.

The Nuggets traded him at his lowest value, but really didn't have a choice. Some guys are addition by subtraction and Lawson was one of those guys. For a contender like Houston Lawson makes a ton of sense. It's all about fit though, will Lawson do the small things to win championships? I look at those great Bulls teams. You had Michael and Scottie and a bunch of role players. You need guys who do the dirty work and the non glamorous tasks. Will Lawson be willing to be more of a glue guy than a star.

The Rockets can bank on perhaps one season of Lawson's reclamation project...

I think he'll be willing to do almost anything ... IF... he's serious about reclaiming his image (and NBA career). But all bets are off after the first season.
