2-way players/contracts

Post by Monster »

Now that Naz Reid signed his deal we have 2 spots for 2-way players.

I know Martin and to some extent McLaughlin have been discussed but there are likely a few dozen other players that are worth considering. Any player with less than 4 years of experience can be eligible for a 2 way deal. Some guys that have gotten a decent taste of the NBA probably wouldn't agree to a 2-way deal but I'm sure there are a handful that would be.

Did Golden State sign Dedric Lawson to a two-way deal? If not, he'd be one of my targets.

I don't see anything about him being signed. He didn't exactly light it up for either the Kings or the Warriors in SL. Do you see him as PF or as a possible wing? BTW real GM player profiles are handy because they have all the stats the players has played from everywhere in one page even summer league past and present. Its not the most mobile friendly but the info is there.

This seems to be a pretty well updated list of the current 2-ways deals. Brandon Goodwinn isn't listed for the Nuggets he was pretty bonkers in the G-league last year including a heck of a do everything stint with Iowa.

Napier will likely have the backup point guard spot to start the season, but I really wouldn't be shocked if McLaughlin took it from him relatively quick.

That should tell you enough about what I think of both players.

I like his speed and vision. I'm glad he's got a chance to make the big squad.

Personally I think of the guys that came into summer league McLaughlin showed more variety of possible translatable skills than anyone else. It's worth remembering that after his freshman season at USC he averaged over 40% on 3's the next 3 years. He shot poorly the last 2 games but he doesn't look like a 1 trick pony. He isn't one of those SL undersized scoring guards or a guy that's just a shooter. He looks like a true PG that could also make catch and shoot 3's. I'm not saying i'm certain he works out or even was the best player available to sign but he seems like a guy that may have enough skills to have a positive effect even if one of the part is his game isn't working. He even looks like a guy that may be able to defend at least backups or at least do enough lot the be a vast liability.

Napier being undervalued continues.

Regardless if I was a young FA PG the Wolves would be a team I'd have my agent calling to see if I could get a spot there. Nobody is signed beyond this season. McLaughlin is in a good spot. If he impresses in training camp he could end up with an NBA deal. Treveon Graham and Tyrone Wallace are already fighting for a roster spot but they could both be cut if someone like McLaughlin impress and the Wolves don't really have a 3rd PG especially if they let Wallace go.
