NBA Prospect Watch

Post by khans2k5 [enjin:6608728] »

I figured the Classic going on tonight would be a good starting point on this year's prospect watch.

Zion just doesn't make sense as a physical specimen. He's a Mac truck who just explodes into the air.

Barrett is relentless to the rim, but he's hunting shots a little too hard.

Zion just goes through you while Barrett just goes around you. They both have great touch around the rim.

Azibuke would be a solid 2nd round pick as a big body who won't get pushed around.

Grimes and Reddish both have sweet shooting strokes.

Nobody is really sticking out on Kentucky in the first half.

Johnson on Kentucky reminds me of Wiggins, lots of athleticism but you're not sure what you'll get offensively. Barrett and Zion both look like A+ prospects.

Barret reminds me of Harrison Barnes.

They're the best offensive prospects I've seen in the last decade. They're both pretty much the complete package offensively. They didn't look great defensively, but that's pretty much all the top guys these days.

I think Barret is much more aggressive with a much better handle and a craftiness that Barnes doesn't have. Grimes on KU looks like a better Barnes comp to me.

Quentin Grimes is my favorite player in this class and you'll likely read my posts about him all season long. Complete player. No real weakness in his arsenal. Great feel for the game. Reminds me of a Gary Harris or Devin Booker. I don't see the Harrison Barnes comparison whatsoever.

I'm curious how you choose a favorite player so early? Did you watch a lot of high school games of Grimes? Grimes looked good against Michigan State, but I'm still not sure that makes him translate to an NBA surefire star after one game.

I've been following these guys since they were juniors and seniors in high school, and watching them play on national teams. I'm not an expert, but I've already seen a lot of minutes of gameplay.

Ahh. The draft thread has already started. Our favorite time of year. November 7th? Yep sounds about right...

Rui Hachimura. Watch him this season whenever possible.
