Which Trade Would You Make?
Which Trade Would You Make?
So here's another poll for fun. My last poll revealed some misgivings about Wiggins compared to some of the other top young talent in the League. Yet, I know everyone on this board appreciates Andrew's tremendous talent and we've all seen some inprovement from him so far this season in rebounding, defense and overall hustle. But I have no doubt that everyone on this Board would swap Wiggins for Giannis if given the chance. Now I want to test how far folks would be willing to go. I have a list in my mind of players I'd trade Wiggins for. Giannis is at the top of my list. Yet there are a lot of talented players I wouldn't give up Wiggins to get.
So here's the question. If you were the Wolves GM and the League office said to you that you can trade Wiggins for any player on the following list, which ones would you NOT be willing to trade Wiggins for? (Note: You can vote for more than one. Also note that you get the player under their current contract)

I just skewed the numbers voted for who I would trade him for.
I voted kawhi, lbj, geek freak, simmons, Westbrook and George

Re: Which Trade Would You Make?
Since Kek already screwed things up :) , I will just add to his list since I agree with the initial names he mentioned. Here the others I'd trade him for and why:
- I would trade him for Booker, who flat out can shoot the ball in a way no one else on our roster can, including Wiggins. I consider him to already be a better all-around player and he has one less year in the league.
- Jokic for sure, although that would create some redundancy with KAT. You can run half your offense through Jokic. I also think he's getting better defensively.
- Kyrie Irving - Thibs likes to do a lot of isolation stuff, much to our chagrin sometimes as I think it often leads to really tough shots by Wig or Butler. Kyrie is one guy you really can isolate and likely end up with an efficient outcome.
- Lillard - Kinda like the west coast version of Kyrie.
There are a bunch of other guys I'd add to the list that aren't on the initial poll: Klay Thompson, James Harden, Otto Porter, Porzingis, Anthony Davis, to just name a few.
Unfortunately, my list expands every year when it comes to this hypothetical. While I think Wiggins has improved along the margins, I still don't think he is in the top couple tiers of impact players in this league. Hope he proves me wrong some day (in a Wolves uniform!).

I have been quite influenced by Q's reporting of Wig's poor peripheral numbers, so I was pleasantly surprised that I had 11 guys on this list that I would NOT trade Wig for. Maybe a little homerism on my part, but I still think we haven't seen anything near the best we are going to see from Wig.
(ok, probably a lot of homerism)

I've seen some of the marginal improvements people speak of, but it hasn't led to better shooting percentages, better rebounding numbers, better assist rate, etc. At some point if he is really getting better, shouldn't it translate into actual results? He's in his 4th year now! If this were his 1st or 2nd year, my list would obviously be much shorter.
Defense is one area that is kinda squishy to get your arms around. He's always been good in isolation. So when folks see him bottle up someone and make a nice contest in isolation, that is nothing new. It's everything else about defense that has been a problem, and I guess kinda may be he's improved in those other areas (???). Hard to really say that though when as a team we are ranked so poorly. It can't ALL be KAT's fault!

Interesting that no one has picked Tatum as a guy they wouldn't trade Wiggins for. That makes me wonder. If Thibs called up Danny Ainge today and offered Wiggins straight up for Tatum (assuming no salary cap issues) do you think Ainge would take the deal?

For me Tatum has played what 15 games in his career. He is off to a very good start let's see how he does for the rest of the year. Looks like a solid prospect though, but I would not trade Wiggins for him though.
One skill wiggins has that helps a lot is he has been able to play big minutes and not miss games

It's not on here, but I like Aldrich/Bazz for Len/Dudley. The Wolves' backup C and SF minutes are very poor right now. It cost MIN about $5m this year and they have Len's Bird Rights for the future. Dudley make about $2m more then Aldrich next year.

Towns/Gibson/Len/G/Belly is a crowded frontcourt. I'd be all for a new backup C over G, but that definitely has to be a consideration when making that trade because G makes a good chunk of change to see even less minutes than he already is. And the worse he plays and less the team shows they value him the harder it's gonna be to move him.

I don't see a healthy Zach LaVine on the list. I would have kept him and traded Andrew last winter so for consistency I would have to be willing to trade Andrew for Zach now.
