Asking for 5 is quite a stretch!

I just realized that! I had to go back and look up some names. Here's my starting point (but I'm sure I'm missing someone):

1.) Marbury - 2 time All Star and star/feature player
2.) Terry Porter - 2 time All Star.
3.) Terrell Brandon - 2 time All Star
4.) Sam Cassell - 1 time All Star (with us!).
5.) Ricky Rubio - (because I got tired of looking for more names).

Good list but don't forget Chauncey, although he was better after he left the wolves

I'd drop TB to 5th and bump Sam and Rubio each up one.

Carlos: I always loved Terry Porter, but he was not very good in his three years for us...never averaged 10ppg or 6 apg in any of his seasons with us.

Seems to be a bit of discrepancy between whether we're considering their time only with the Wolves... or their entire careers. I'm running only with how they performed while with the Timberwolves:

1. Sam Cassell. The lone all-star on this list. The lone guy to win a playoff series (2). 20 ppg / 7 ast / 49% fg... and most importantly, he gave a solid Wolves team the thing they needed most to get over the hump... balls.

2. Step Marbury. It can be argued Brandon had better stats. But there was something special with the Garnett/Marbury/Googs team. 18/9 for Marbury in year 2. Made the playoffs both of his years and the promise was unmistakable. Greed. Immaturity. A lousy family ruined it all.

3. Brandon. Steady. Unassuming. Solid. Great A/TO ratio... but he played it almost too safe, especially on a team with Garnett who thrived with balls-to-the-wall guys. His refusal to venture into the lane keeps him at #3 though. Too bad about the injuries. Quick nugget... He was 83 out of 84 from the charity stripe his final season.

4. Rubio. He has one elite skill... passing. So he makes this list on that alone. That might say more about the Wolves PG situation more than it does Rubio considering his shot was one of the worst of all time during most of his stint during one of the bleakest periods in the history of the franchise.

5. Pooh Richardson. If for nothing else... the excitement I had in the early days of the Wolves. We all knew Pooh was flawed and many of us were upset when they picked him instead of the UTEP 2-Step, Timmy Hardaway. But Pooh wasn't terrible... averaged 17/9/47% fg in his second season.


[Note: Not a great lineup. By the way, Sidney Lowe was the worst. Terrible NBA player... terrible NBA coach... terrible college coach.]

I left the interpretation open on whether to consider only their time as a Wolf or not. Your list/reasoning above is solid. Really where I was going with this is that often I read people saying we need to get rid of Rubio and get a better PG. But in almost 30 years of Franchise history, we've only had a few guys who we can name as actually better. That doesn't mean I think Rubio is HOF player or anything. Only that a "complete" player at any position isn't easy to get. We are pretty lucky to have guys like KAT and Wiggins. I don't know if we are ever going to have the luxury of having stars at every position here in MN. Maybe a pass first guy like Rubio is a better fit for KAT/Wiggins than a scoring PG - IDK. I understand the need for spacing by having threats to score at other positions. But is PG the position of need going forward or SG? (knowing LaVine will probably need a mulligan year coming back from knee). Could we put together a longer list of guys who were better shooting guards than B. Rush?
