Kevin McHale next coach

That way Glen won't have to do a search. You know he hates that stuff.

This is a very real possibility. I like mchale as coach and Towns will surely be a big selling point for mchale to coach here. He will probably retain the rest of the coaching staff as well. That may be good or bad.

I actually posted that facetiously to see what kind of responses came back late last night. But World is right, its a possibility with this team.

However, I remember McHale having an annual conversation with himself to see if he wanted to come back to work, and I think Glen got tired of that. I don't even know if they are speaking at this point.

LOL at "big selling point". I think we have the best coaching job available. We got the young talent and the next coach gets all the credit for turning the franchise around. Brooks, Van Gundy, Thibs, Calipari are all preferred choices over McHale. But yeah I fear Glen might tap the country club again. I actually wouldn't mind if McHale came in as an offensive coach to work with the bigs, but head coach would be a bad idea.

Teamricky. I used selling point because I don't believe coaching is something McHale is truly passionate about. I won't be surprised if he never coaches another team again. He just don't look like a lifer as a coach like a flip is.

To clarify, I like McHale as coach but I would opt for someone else. I think given the country club mentality of Glen, bringing back McHale is a possibility. But I would hope for someone else. A guy that is committed to coaching for the next 10-20 years a opposed to a reluctant coach that I see in mchale.

I might be in the minority on this one but I'd be more than OK to give McHale another shot here. I always thought he got the best out of his players, and it sure couldn't hurt to have KAT learn from one of the best low post players of all time.

That said I think Plan A is to find someone young, bright, and hungry that will relate well to a younger team. The obvious example would be Brad Stevens in Boston, or maybe someone like Kidd or Derek Fisher.

I mentioned this in an earlier thread but what about Steve Nash? He's now working as a developmental coach with the Warriors. He's always struck me as incredibly smart, well spoken and seems like he would get along well with a young group. Also he saw the floor a lot like Rubio does, that couldn't hurt.

If the choice is more Mitchell or McHale then consider mine a vote for McHale!

I think I could get behind giving Nash a shot. He would be great for Lavine.
