Re: Towns Vs porzingis Draft Express video
I love those draftexpress videos...they always point out things I missed during the live game. Thanks for posting, rocket.
The video makes it look like KAT totally dominated the matchup, and he clearly did when they were matched up against each other. But the video doesn't bring out the incredible impact KP had on defense...he blocked 6 shots, but probably altered another 10. And he did it all with only 2 fouls...outstanding defensive instincts to go along with that freakish length. Still, KAT's much better scoring and rebounding won the battle last night. What a couple terrific rookies! Right now it looks like these 2 on top, then Okafor in a tier by himself below them, and then everyone else.
One aspect of KAT's game that needs improvement (and I think he will improve) is one some of us have pointed out before...sometimes he gets a little lazy blocking out on rebounds. He is already a terrific rebounder though, and better blocking out will only make him more dominant on the boards.

Yeah, especially in that first half, Porzingas really messed with our offense with his length. It's crazy a guy that long can be that nimble and skilled. Gonna be fun to watch him develop. I'd rather have Towns 8 days a week, but man, 'Zingas can play.

And to think the knucklehead Knicks fans loudly booed the pick when Jackson took him 4th! Most scouts said he might take a couple years to develop, but that he had the potential to be the best player in the draft. Well, he's way ahead of schedule. But so is KAT, and more likely to be the best player coming out of this draft. I see both these guys as perennial all-stars.

At one point, Jim Peterson said Porzingis is better than Nowitzki.
I think he meant (at age 20), but he didn't add that disclaimer.

You just can't teach 7'3. The dude is a giant with a ton of length so bully ball just does nothing to him because he's so long he can still block you in bad position. He did something against us you rarely see in the NBA anymore. He got a contested offensive rebound clean over one of our 6'11 guys in the front court. That's insane.

I heard that and wondered what he meant. KP is already a better defensive player than Dirk, but is far behind him as an offensive player. He has the potential to be as good as Dirk on offense though too...I think he will be a better 3-point shooter.

Nowitzki has said the same thing.

I remember how cam was saying KP was going to be a monster in this league. Is that guy ever wrong?
