LOL.
Good for Flipper. I see he used the format to tell all you experts that he doesn't hate 3 pointers. So suck on that for a while!
Re: Heeeeeeee's Ba-aaack!
Now can we get him to comment on our defensive ineptness as well?
Re: Heeeeeeee's Ba-aaack!
It's fun that Flip consumes info from everything, media, fans, other team's personnel etc. It doesn't seem to keep him from being prepared for anything. He has mentioned he has faith in the other people int he organization and that seems pretty genuine. Basically Flip doesn't have his head stuck in the sand he may be stubborn but he isn't lacking for gathering information.

I love the way Flip engages. We hear pundits and some fans refer to the Wolves front office as "the country club." In some ways that reference applies. But Flip doesn't seem to have the elitist attitude often associated with a country club culture. He doesn't isolate himself from critics or fans generally. And he responds to criticism with candor and passion.

Good point Tim!
I think a lot of what Flip has been saying about defense is length and athletism. Obviously it's not that simple and Flip wouldn't say its that simple either but I get what he is saying. Hell it's what Wolves fans including people on this board have been saying basically since I don't know when almost forever. It was a problem even when KG was here at times we just couldn't get a guy next to KG at C at times and had to go small.
Now look at this team. Flip has brought in guys with mostly above average length and athletic ability. Bennett is a guy that's a little undersized but is athletic and even with him looking even more svelte a strong frame. Tyus is neither. Rudez has length but isn't a plus athlete but he isnt a long term guy and neither is Miller. Pek when healthy has length and Girth.
This is no longer a midgit team that we used to watch years ago. Rubio is bigger than some team's SGs. Bazz is probably more average but his strength is well above average. This is a reason why I think Flip and the Wolves value Lorenzo Brown. He has the length and athletic ability to be a legit SG defensively and he can be a true PG.
Now all that length doesn't do any good if you don't have a worthwhile team concept. I don't want to give Flip and his staff a complete pass for last year about anything but I will say I am willing to wait and see a bit what can be done with a hopefully more healthy roster.
Also I am sure Flip would go on and on about KG's Impact which if he can play based on the advanced stats from his time with the Nets is no joke. We will see on that one if KG can give solid minutes in enough games.
I am not that optimistic about our defense because it really was awful last year and we are a young team but I do think we may see some worthwhile growth there if we can stay decently healthy. We have some bigs with the potential to make an impact on that end. Maybe Flip has picked up something by chatting up Zimmer at TC. Lol I am not joking about that Flip said last year he likes to go and try and pick up anything he thinks he can use to make players better. If the Wolves could somewho become a decent defensive team they could possibly win a decent chunk of games.

Geez Flip, do you review your tweets before you send them? Sloppy.
The issue with Flip isn't that he dislikes 3-pointers. It's that he likes - and in fact designs plays - for long and mid-range 2's. So rather than proactively encouraging a guy like Payne and AB to pop after picks to behind the arc and get that extra 50% value from a 3, he prefers they stick with a shot that they are most "comfortable" with, which is the shitty 20-footer that only goes in 40% of the time - and that's on a good day! All these guys need to do is shoot 30% on 3's and it's still a better shot.

I agree about our defense taking time. Towns is going to take time to build strength and defensive discipline. He will be our anchor, but he will take time. In a few years there is no reason to us not to be a top team defensively.
