Thibs Rotations
Thibs Rotations
So, checking on some random Bulls games over the last few years, it looks like Thibs is a 9-man rotation guy, with the number 9 guy lucky to get 10 minutes. The starters tend to average 35 minutes and 2 or 3 bench guys average 20+ minutes. And he likes playing big in the frontcourt.
As the roster stands now, the bigs would be KAT and Dieng starting, with Belly and Aldrich off the bench. The guards would be Rubio and LaVine starting, with Dunn coming off the bench. That leaves Wiggins starting at SF with Bazz off the bench, with some extra minutes likely coming at SG for one of them.
The bench guys will be fighting to see who falls in the 20+ minute category, and who falls into the less than 10 minute category. If Dunn struggles at SG, look for Bazz to benefit with extra minutes. Or if Belly is playing well, he might earn some minutes at SF.
And of course, we are all anxiously waiting to see who else Thibs signs to give those guys competition.
[Edit: sounds like Pau to San Antonio is a done deal assuming Durant does not go to San Antonio. ]

I hope Bazz sees some time at the 2. I thought that was one of Flip's great ways to utilize him that Sam went away from.

I am hoping to see some minutes for Dunn at the 2. Tyus should get some minutes at the 1.

Man, we better hope for some organic improvement in 3-point shooting, because right now the only reliable volume 3-shooter is LaVine. KAT and Bjelly certainly seem capable, but after that, it gets pretty iffy. Let's hope the 2nd half improvement we saw from Rubio and Wiggins carries over into this season, because we'll need it.
The team has definitely shored up its defense with the addition of Thibs, Dunn, and Aldrich. And defense was by far the #1 problem with this team. So at least that is getting addressed.

Who are the best 3-point shooters left on the market?

That is kind of what I was expecting barring trades. We already have our horses, its going to be up to them. I think Bazz is going to be key. His ability to hit threes will probably determine if he has a future here.

How much time can you realistically think Dunn can play at the two? This board generally criticizes our outside shooting, yet so many of us think you can go significant stretches with two guards who can't shoot. I see Dunn playing very little at the two, and if he does we are going to be much easier to defend.

I'd suspect that when Zach is resting, Dunn might be the first option to get minutes at the 2. We might still add a shooting guard, but til then Dunn is probably our best option there. We don't have enough depth at 3, to allow Wiggins to spend much time at the 2. Tyus and Dunn can play together some and still provide some shooting. We don't know how well Ricky and Dunn can play together. Will their defense and play making overcompensate for their shooting? We will have to wait to find out.

Hey...what about me? I have better 3-point numbers over a longer period of time than any of those bozos!
