Trading Rubio

Post by Porckchop »

Is there a team playoff bound that is in need of a Ricky type player? If the idea is to shop him to a lottery bound team what is the sales pitch when the up coming draft is filled with pgs that have more potential than him? Seems to me the teams that should be targeting him would have great shooters and ball dominate players that need to play a few minutes off ball to get easy looks while catching some rest while still being asked to be on the court.

Cleveland Cavs. Need another PG or playmaker. Have tons of shooters to balance the floor. Don't need Rubio to finish games.

I would think Shumpert would have to be included in the deal remember They habebto send some salary back to make the deal work and so the Cavs aren't playing a bigillion dollars in Lux tax. I don't know how big of a piece shipper is for them at the moment so haven't been paying attention. I think Rubio's salary will be somewhat of an issue to deal him to some of those good teams because of the salary cap.

They need to keep up in the arms race with GSW.

Yes.

And unless they want Rubio for those times when James is off the court... I don't really get it. He's the fulcrum of that offense. Give him the ball and have everybody else space out around the court. Teams have to send guys at James which opens everybody else up. But if the ball rotates to Rubio in that scenario?

That's a win for the defense, all things considered. I think all Cleveland needs is a serviceable backup PG. Right now, they have next to nothing. They should be able to find one of those pretty cheap.

The scenario I envisioned was Ricky coming off the bench spending a few of those minutes along side LeBron to give him some time off ball to be on the receiving end of some backdoor cuts and open jumpers . They have a handful of good shooters on that team that might be more suited to Rickys style of play. I in no way am suggesting he would take over for Irving tho

SVG squashed the rumors and speculation of the trade. They came to their senses. Hopefully this gives people on here some perspective into his value around the league, which isn't much.
