A snippet on KG:

Rivers sounded most confident that Garnett would continue his playing career, even as he aids the rebuilding process with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

"I think Kevin -- and I know it, because I talk to him -- loves the young guys on his team," Rivers said. "He loves how they work. He thinks they have an old-school mentality. So I think he's really gotten into Kevin, the teacher. And I honestly never saw that coming, either. Yet he was a phenomenal teacher with [Boston]; I just didn't think he would have the patience to do it. And I think Kevin loves teaching these young guys.

Interesting tidbit Tim thanks for posting.

As I was posting on the Sam ramblings thread and pondering this info it made me wonder if KG is just mad at Glen and how it seems unlikely he has a place in the organization past this year. In other words he doesn't really have a beef with Thibs but KG probably wants to be more all in than just for the coach and players and that's why he hasn't made a declaration yet.

Like I have said all along my guess is Thibs and Layden are sort of ok with whatever happens although they would not be all that disappointed of KG just retired. I do think they both feel like if KG wants to come back he deserves that plus they don't have much choice. They aren't wooing KG and that's probably not helping KG make a decision either.

The closer it gets to training camp the more the percentages seem to trend closer toward him is coming back (especially with what Rivers said above) unless his body just completely gives out on him which is possible.

We're less than two weeks from training camp, no? And we still don't know if he's playing or not? This is getting a little ridiculous at this point, although I guess the roster is pretty much set either way.

I don't think I'm giving anything away in saying this is an ugly situation...got the confirmation about that last week. Wolves' brass really doesn't want KG back...he's a strong personality, good or bad, and there's concern that he could be a very disruptive influence. KG is a volatile guy, so I still think there is a possibility that his competitive side could take over and he could go through an attitude change and return as a productive member of this team (like the first quarter of last season), but absent that, he needs to go...with the full $8 million in his pocket.

Objects in mirror are actually closer than they seem, Q...media day is next Monday, and training camp starts in 6 days.

And I know I can be such a Debbie Downer... Here is a "coaches power ranking" with Thibs at #11 and why he might not be a good fit with the Wolves:

(of course, if you ask me, it's a bunch of poppycock!)

It's not a slam dunk that Thibs is the right guy for this job. Been saying that for a couple years. The proof will be in the pudding.
