It's almost like the author has been reading this message board for a couple years, and then compiled a complete sampling of opinions and artfully put them together in this piece. I though it was very entertaining from that perspective. By and large I agree with most of it. It also amped up my excitement level to see this come together.
Re: HoopsHype Hypes Wolves
It was a pretty good article worth reading overall. Here are some thoughts that came to mind as I read it.
I think the author dismissing the Blazers that quickly and even to some extent the Jazz is a bit of a mistake although I get its all part of the premise of the article and a solid case was made. I think Lilliard is a pretty good player and they have plenty of other talent there also so..thats my case. Also the Jazz have a ridiculous depth of talent IF its all healthy.
Another thing the author brings up is playing 2 bigs together. I was listening to Billy Donovan on the Verticle podcast (VERY good listen) a few weeks ago. It was funny but basically that team WILL be going big on some teams because...they have good players that happen to be big in Kanter, Adams and maybe even Sabonis. The thing about Dieng and Towns is offensively they can absolutely work together. both guys can score from a variety of places on the floor which is pretty unique no matter the PF/C combination. Defensively there is some versatility as well because Dieng actually has strengths both as a post and perimeter defender and so does Towns. They aren't a perfect match there, but lets be honest very few teams have the perfect match at those 2 positions. Its not really that weird to me to think they can play those guys together a lot and it would work. There are going to be some teams that are gonna play big a lot all year next year. The Wolves could be one of them and guess what? They had plenty of success doing that last year.

Good article - hard to disagree with most of what he writes, although I still think our trajectory to the 50+ win club is still a 2-3 year journey versus a huge leap this season.
In terms of the small ball issue, most teams still start two legit big men at C and PF. You would have a hard time convincing me to do anything different with our starting lineup from the 2nd half of last season. Offensively they were one of the best units in the NBA. Defensively, they weren't very good, but they have all of the ingredients to be good with the right coach.

Yep...55 wins if they stay reasonably healthy and if Thibs is a big upgrade over Sam. Those may be big "ifs" though.

Well, we will breathlessly wait to see if your prediction comes true. If it's 3 years, something is very wrong.
