Cavs Lose again

Post by Lipoli390 »

Hayward just hit a game winner with 2 seconds left to lift the Jazz over the Cavs. Love wasn't on the floor for the Jazz game-winning last possession. Could that have something to do with Love's defense? :). Cavs are now 1-3. The Cavs will get better and I still see them as a leading contender in the East. But they have a lot of work to do individually and collectively as a team. David Blatt may not last the whole season, but one way or another the Cavs will turn things around.

I watched the end of that game, too. It was very fitting for Hayward to hit the winner, because the refs bailed LeBron out on a desperation 3-pointer, and he hit all 3 FTs to tie the game with 3+ seconds left.

A part of me wanted the Cavs to win because we need West teams to lose whenever possible. But it was very satisifying to see the Cavs lose like that!

Honestly the Lakers are the only team I am not scared about, the Jazz team could be good in a few years, they have interesting pieces

The problem with the cavs is their bench and having no rim protectors.

Their 10th-13 th guys should be the inactive 14th-15th guys. Dellanova is not good enough to be your 3rd guard. Miller's body is broken down to the point where he isnt suitable to be a regular rotation guy that plays every game. Marion is much more effective when he plays more minutes. Tristan thompson is an energy guy that is not ideal to be a 6th man. Blatt is unproven and have no experience in the nba level.

They are still a playoff team and im sure they will be fine. But they seriously needs to add depth.

Ricky should text Love a link for the standings with a big smiley face!

My favorite quote on the Cavs' RealGM board:

"Can't understand how this team is worse on defense than last year."

Hmm...anybody have any theories  ?

Actually, Love has been their best offensive player statistically, and the Cavs posters are using all of their hate on Kyrie and Waiters. I did notice what Lip noticed though...that Blatt took Love out of the game for defensive purposes on the last possession. I don't recall Adelman ever doing that

Irving needs to figure it out, and soon. Yes, their bench is terrible, but I read somewhere that Dellavadova's (who's now hurt and out for a few weeks) on/off stats were better than Irving's last year. Their backup PG now is future HOFer Will Cherry, and Blatt didn't feel comfortable playing him last night as he only played 8 guys on the second night of a BTB. Irving played 45 minutes and had no assists...heck, the entire team only had 6 assists!

Right now the Wolves are 2-2, and the Cavs are 1-3...let's keep it going!

I think it will take Kyrie a while to figure out how to fit in with LBJ. He is used to being a traditional ball-dominant PG, and we all know that as long as LBJ is there, both will split time as ball handlers/distributors. LBJ is very good at facilitating an offense, and he will continue to do this. Kyrie needs to figure out a way to be a sidekick without having the ball in his hands. Pretty big behavioral changes, and it will simply take some time. I think they probably hit their stride about game 30.

I think many people have no idea anything about Dellavedova. He can play him being out for a few weeks hurts the Cavs. Basically he is a clever player that's able to hit 3's and make the right plays. He didn't have a turnover in this season. I'm a biased fan of his I watched him play in college and really thought he had a chance to be an NBA player and he is doing it.

They have 3 ball dominant staters + Waiters who already had a beef with Kyrie about this issue. There is some major leadership needed on this team and no guarantee that the personnel they have are capable of leading. The Miami situation was much different. Lebron could be the silent, lead by example role. Now he has to run out front. I am suspect this team as constructed can get it done. But they certainly have the opportunity to make good moves with the level of talent they have.

I am sooooo happy we got the deal from them.
