Any credit due to McHale ?

Post by Porckchop »

For his Rockets run in the playoffs . Seems he's gotten his share of criticism on here over the last couple years . wasn't he picked to be the first coach fired this year? Or was that last year?

He deserves credit to be sure, keeping his team motivated to rally back from down 3-1 against the Clippers was huge. I know Morey is a bit of a controversial figure but I think he needs to get a ton of credit too.

Layups and 3s. That's a coach who has adapted to what the rules let you do...

McHale was fine here as a coach. Remember it was Kahn who decided to let him go because the "venom in the fan base towards McHale (as GM) was so great...".

Let's not forget Houston was the #2 seed in the loaded West... despite a ton of injuries.

Howard. Terrence Jones. Beverly. And that other PF. Houston just kept battling. They overachieved in the regular season and probably overachieved in the playoffs.

Good season all around for them.

Yes heck of a season for him. He got to the WCF with ancient PGs and some roster turnover from day 1.

The GM did a pretty good job too although having Josh Smith land in their laps helped. I givecHale credit for getting a lot out of Josh Smith if nothig else.
