Hey Guys

Post by Coolbreeze44 »

It seems we moved on so quickly after winning the lottery to answering all the questions that follow. I'm not sure we've reveled enough in the actual victory and what it means for us. So this will be the celebration / Tim's Optimism thread. Post your thoughts on winning the lottery and what you think it means for us going forward. Only optimistic viewpoints here please.

My take:

We have Wiggins, Lavine, Rubio, hopefully a much more durable Pek, Shabazz, Dieng. And now we get to add whoever we deem is the best player in the entire draft! We will have a legitimate chance at having back to back rookie of the year winners. The foundation is being laid for a very promising future. We have a future star in Wiggins, we have a very athletic and exciting roster, and if this pick pans out we will be well on our way to developing a big 3 in-house. Other than the year we made a trip to the NBA Conference finals, I'm not sure there has ever been a better time to be a Wolves fan.

I'm looking at the future. Getting the first pick is huge. We have one transformational piece in Wiggins and the opportunity to get another. We have other young pieces who have shown promise in LaVine and Muhammed. We have other young guys who may develop into good depth and role players. The future looks very bright for us.

Well said by both of you. The only other times that may rival this as being the best time being a Wolves fan are probably the KG/Marbury year when we first beat MJ's Bulls and then the WCF year with KG, Spree & Sam. It's such an exciting time with so much promise and potential going forward. It's going to be one hell of a summer and '15/'16 season. I can't wait!

Good point on the reveling, Cool! It is an aspect we were deprived of with Wiggins. So we need to revel twice as hard! :)

Whoever the pick is we will have an insanely fun lineup. Wiggins, Lavine and Bazz are all young players to be excited about. A talented big!!!! No knock on our past bigs since KG left, but we are going to likely get a skilled 7 footer. Awesome. Our vets KG and Martin, very solid for a variety of reasons especially if KG gives us a real discount because that could give us a chance for one more FA.

The x-factors on this team have stayed pretty consistent though. Can any of the young bigs already on the roster (Dieng, Bennett, Payne) make a jump to having a real role on the team? Most important, can Pek and Ricky stay healthy? If one of these 5 players makes an improvement it will have a significant impact on our win totals. I am confident that a few of these things can come through. Next season will be fun, full of intense scrutiny of our rookie, overreactions, and passionate debates here. Looking forward to it.

BTW Wiggins will be up to 19ppg next year and Bazz will be in the running for MIP once the season is finished.

Wiggins averaged 19 points the last 52 games of the year. I think he is somewhere in the low 20's. Having a big that attracts defenses only will help.

I really want to see Andrew average over 20 this year. I definitely wouldn't bet against it.

I, too, think Wiggins will be leading this team in scoring, well into the 20s.

KG's money next year is irrelevant. Regardless of what he signs for, the Wolves only have the MLE/LLE to spend. And after next year, the salary cap goes way up. I know a few posters here will spazz out over KG's money, but it just doesn't matter.
