Wolves/Spurs rosca dia de juego (GDT)
Our well rested Wolves battle the Spurs in the thin Mexico City air tonight. It's a home game, so we expect that Lip will provide his usual in person game report...check that, I forgot about Wednesday night tennis. You're off the hook, Lip.
Vegas showed the Wolves a lot of respect by installing the Spurs as only a 2 point favorite in the opening line. I think the sharps didn't realize this was not a real home game for us, and the line has moved up to 4 1/2 as that fact has settled in. I still think it's low...the Spurs are really good.
Q's post earlier today about shooting is unfortunately on the money when it comes to comparing these two squads. The Wolves have an eFG% of 47%, while the Spurs are a lofty 54%. The Spurs shoot better, defend better, are deeper, are better coached, and rebound about the same. The only advantage the Wolves have is their ability to get to the free throw line, and I don't see how that will be enough to offset all the advantages the Spurs have.
As I posted in Q's eFG% thread, I'm really optimistic about what the Wolves are going to do the next 30 games. That optimism doesn't extend to tonight, however.

I think Rubio is going to have a big game with the crowd behind him. I also am expecting that Love is going to have a turnaround game tonight. These are all just feelings but I have been pumped about this game all day. Vamos lobos!!!!!!!!!

I actually think we have a good chance tonight. We seem to play pretty well against them. I think we do better against veteran teams that don't rely on athleticism, and are somewhat predictable in what they do, even if they do it well.

I was looking forward to the game too, but there's some chance it won't be played. Power is out in the arena and reports of smoke billowing out. Surprising, considering that state of the art Mexican infrastructure.
Hope they play, though. Sounds like Splitter is out, and he's the only real center on the roster. Forces Duncan to play a lot of minutes without much oxygen.

Zgoda just tweeted they're evacuating the building. Not such bad news...maybe we'll end up with a real home game after all.

They will just move to the back up location in Tulum. Let's just hope everyone keeps their heads.

Pop is saying "let's reschedule it on an off day in Minny". Gotta believe the NBA really wants to get this one in though. Might be a really long delay if they decide to play. I think I'm going out.

Just overheard Spurs team doctors say no way to playing in arena tonight, seems like teams will push back hard on playing tonight -- Zgoda
