Shabazz Recalled

Post by tpoff217 »

It looks like Shabazz will be back to sitting on the Timberwolves bench again. Does anyone think he will get any playing time after the way he played in the D-League?

He's gotta earn it in practice or wait for Shved and Hummel to get hurt. Flip said his D needs to get better. We all know that.

I don't see the point in bringing him back so soon if they don't plan to give him some run. About the only reason to bring him back at this point if he's not going to play would be to work on D in practice as it was crystal clear they weren't doing any D down in Iowa!

My thoughts too.......I'd assume that if they are bringing him back, they probably will play him a bit.

But, if Shabazz get's some burn, who will lose PT? I can't imagine Bud or Turiaf losing any to Shabazz......Shved has been playing a bit better, and plays pretty decent D.....so I don't think that he'll lose much burn....

Maybe Shved moves to PG and JJ is n his way out? I'm not a huge fan of getting rid of JJ....but it is tuff to figure out who else is going to lose PT

Shved moving to back up point and us exploring a trade for JJ was my first impression when I saw this. It would open up a few minutes for Shabazz but I don't know how I feel about Shved running the offense when Rubio is getting a breather. The only reason I think JJ might be shopped is due to him not seeing eye to eye with Love. But, we would be left with nobody to really backup Martin if Shved is moved to the point. I guess Brewer could slide down there when Martin is out because there is no way Shabazz will be able to keep up with guards out on the perimeter.

Hopefully they are trading JJ and releasing Hummel.

Flip told him Shabazz he'd be sent down for four games. Teams don't usually send a player down to the D-League and completely leave him there. I'm sure we'll see him sent back down in the coming weeks if he's not needed/used with the Wolves. It's basically a learning process for the player. I'd expect the staff to work with Shabazz on defensive principles and hope to see him using them in the D-League. After however many games, I'd bet he'd be recalled again.

What the heck is this team doing? Why is he back already? Is Dieng in the D League too since Turiaf is back? Are we going to stash them in Europe?
