Phoenix Suns- WTF!!!!!!

Post by longstrangetrip [enjin:6600564] »

Can anybody help me understand this team? They are now 19-10 after blowing out the Clippers at Staples, and they haven't even played many soft Eastern conference games yet. Every single player except something called
Slava Kravtsov is scoring better than their career average, and some are way over. They start a Luke Ridnour sized SG, have a backup PG named Ish, and a backup SF named Christmas. They have only one guy with a career average in double digits (Dragic at 10.2), and might have nobody on the all star ballot (TLTC-too lazy to check).

What is going on, and do we really have to consider them a playoff contender? Most of us had them somewhere in the bottom three in our preseason predictions (correct me if anyone had them higher...again,TLTC). I honestly haven't watched them yet on my League Pass because they just don't have any star power, but I apparently need to check them out. The only thing I can surmise is Jeff Hornacek is already the greatest coach in the history of the NBA (loved him as a player...god, could the Wolves use him!).

In a way I take a little optimism out of the Suns. They are a young team that hasn't had any recent playoff experience, and a young, dynamic coach has completely turned them around. Hmmmmmmm... (cue the sjm, cool, etc. Adelman rant... :) )

I'm happy to see them winning. I am sure Jazz fans wish Hornacek was coaching the Jazz.

Goran Dragic and Eric Bledsoe are getting it done. Jeff has them exploiting that match-up. I hope they keep it up.

They have a two-headed monster in the backcourt. Dragic and Bledsoe can attack. Especially with the spacing the Suns can get from having Gerald Green (what?), Channing Frye and even the Morris twins stretching out to the 3 point line.

And Plumlee has been a godsend as the big man in the middle.

Check out the stats from Bledsoe and Dragic. Holy shit... am I seeing double?

18.4 ppg / 2.9 reb / 5.9 ast / 48.5% fg
18.0 ppg / 4.3 reb / 5.8 ast / 48.6% fg

Yikes! And here are their career numbers:

10.2 ppg/ 2.4 reb/ 4.4 ast/ 44.8% fg
7.9 ppg/ 2.8 reb/ 3.3 ast/ 44.2% fg

Either something's been added to the water in Phoenix, or Hornacek has to be coach of the year.

The scary part is that most on here have already chalked up our games against PHO as wins!

Yeah I know, sjm. A week from tomorrow they come to Target Center so we can see what they really got. Fortunately it's the back end of a BTB, so I'm keeping it in the win column for now. They are a huge surprise to me so far. I don't know...might be a mirage.

The real shocker is that they are doing this after suffering the loss of Wes, Telfair and the Beas...now that's character to overcome that!

I'm happy to see them playing well too. See what happens when you get rid of Michael Beasley and Wes Johnson!

I think everybody wants to see the Suns. A fun, exciting team on the rise.

But alas... we get to watch 50 Heat games. And about 30 Bulls, Knicks or Nets games on national tv instead of the Suns a couple of times.

League Pass is worth every penny. Between that and the Baseball, it's entertainment almost every night of the year. I ended up dropping the movie channels because I never watched them.

And to think: The Suns have Okafor's expiring to trade for even more talent. And they're doing this with poor production at PF and C.
