3 Team Deal

Post by khans2k5 [enjin:6608728] »

MIN gets: Jrue Holiday, Omer Asik
HOU gets: Ryan Anderson, Greg Stiemsma, DC
NO gets: Rubio, Pek, Terrance Jones, and HOU first this year

We get our second all-star to go next to Love who can give us scoring and defense from the PG position. We also get a rim protector that improves our horrid defensive FG% given up at the rim and we don't lose hardly any scoring or rebounding from the deal, we just get better fits.

HOU gets their stretch 4 to go next to Dwight who is a worthy starter and 2 backup bigs, one of which can protect the rim while Dwight is out of the game.

NO gets a bruising big next to Davis that could drop 20 a game in the post. Pek will fit best next to a defensive 4. They also get a promising, yet raw PG in Ricky who has potential, but hasn't quite shown the development yet. They get a young 4 who can play next to Davis in a small ball lineup and would give them a solid scoring punch off the bench with Evans. They get a first round pick back in this draft because they gave theirs to Philly. NO isn't quite setup to make the playoffs this year and this deal balances their team out with a legit starting C next to Davis who can be a second or third option while still retaining a young, promising PG who has the potential to develop into an all-star like Holiday.

I usually dismiss most trades immediately and find obvious, glaring flaws.

Maybe I'm just being lazy... but that SEEMS plausible. Right? Although Asik is due $15+M next year, how does that impact the Wolves cap situation?

Although a three-team deal between playoff/fringe playoff teams from the same conference is extremely unlikely. If it doesn't work out for one of them, it's a double whammy.

I love this trade. At some point, it makes sense from all three teams to make a move like this, though I worry about Houston since they're winning with that they have already. I've posted about a three way that included Asik/Pek/Anderson, but I hadn't thought about throwing Rubio/Holiday into it. What a big time move that would be. I also think Love would be all for it. Obviously I don't know what goes on inside Love's head, but playing with an All-Star PG like Holiday would almost make it a lock that he stays.

Not to mention Holiday's on a pretty team-friendly contract considering his talent level.

Id do that trade in a heartbeat and it seems plausible.

More than willing to throw in whatever else needed to make that happen too. Lol if HOU asks for Shabazz to make it go, bingo. Have him.

I've since asked a good handful of Rockets and Pelicans fans. All of them like it for their team except one Houston fan who didn't want to give up Terrence Jones.

Asik is way overrated. No way he's worth Pek AND Rubio

They'd be getting a PG in the deal, too.

2 starters and an expiring bench player for two starters. Ricky and Asik are about equal in terms of their raw skills and Pek and Jrue are about equal (Pek is playing at an all-star level this year).

Ricky>Asik
Jrue>Pek

That's pretty equal value.
